Sun says GP wants this QPR outcast as not given a squad number by MH. Would he be a good signing?

would be good IMO, proven with Cardiff at this level and the physical type striker we are looking for. But did he not recently say 'no chance' when asked on twitter about poss loan move?

Beat me to It. Owell Just goes to show he's quite happy sitting on his arse raking in the ££ doing nothing. Would be surprised If he did come down though.

Forget a loan deal, if he is available let's offer 2-3m for him and get him permanently. Absolute class player for Chanpionship level.

As potential deals go this one has so much to recommend it!
Nasty big headed twat who demands a salary massively higher than we can afford; lazy; doesn't actually play well (or often - bit of a sicknote among other things); doesn't score goals; refuses to go out on loan and would command a substantial fee from a club who have no need to sell................................ yup. Great idea! One up to the Sun again

Honestly! I wish you'd get off that fence, SG, & tell us what you really think of him.

Offer Palace Sparrow, Vincelot and Harley for Glenn Murray. I think they would take that. Gets them off the wage bill too. Bothroyd would want too much money

sorry about that - I'll try to be clearer in future

I chuckled at Andy Naylor's tweet this morning asking why people grasp at any old name as being a potential signing regardless of suitability or affordability. Bothroyd manages to fall into both categories so maybe Naylor had been browsing on here? The man just doesn't understand what it's like to be a fan and desperate or indeed that Poyet was culpable in creating an atmosphere where our whole season depends on signing a quality striker and a "gem" only to then announce that we might not sign anyone. Little wonder at fans' desperation but even clutching at straws only has a value if they are within reach.

Is there anyone in our current squad, or any team in the entire world that fits your criteria for being able to don the stripes?

I am probably finding it as difficult as Gus is but then I am only guessing at his budget so "ees complicated"

I think I have some understanding of his performnance criteria in terms of mobility, aerial ability, link play etc and from observation of who fits at the club and who doesn't I can take an educated guess at the sort of attitude a player needs to demonstrate in order to tick the boxes for Gus.

Gus has a very very clear picture of the type of player he wants and whilst I enjoy the game of throwing names in to the hat as much as anyone, there are more that very obviously don't belong than ones that do.

FWIW most of the players who I think would be a good fit on the playing side are pretty clearly ruled out on affordability which seems to be pretty much Gus's situation although I suspect he will come up with the goods come the closing of the transfer window and bring in at least one new face which will possibly surprise and hopefully delight and will follow that up with a couple of loanees the following week
