Jamie Murphy has been the best signing of the close season. Born and bred in Glasgow. Both Parents Scottish. Both Grandparents Scottish. Can't really get more Scottish than that

A la my regular locking of horns over MotM awards, it's nice to be able to argue this point too.

I'd say Uwe has been the best signing of the close season.
Also I would probably be less keen to argue the toss had you said Rosenior, instantly putting Murphy down to third best.

Very true. I actually missed out the key part or being a Scottish player signed directly from Scotland. Agree though, Murphy has been superb.

Yes. My argument was hastily put together and flawed, still find it hard to get Graeme Smith and Kevin Thomson out of my head.

I get what you're saying and do agree. Ps-wasn't it Stephen Thompson?!

With you on this. But Bong needs to come into the mix somewhere too. Which just goes to show what a cracking set of signings we've had since CH and PW arrived (I'm throwing Kayal into that mix too).

You can't put Kayal into it because he is not a close season signing. I would never have made the comment otherwise. The close season cut off I used was to show the turnaround from last season to this season

BFG, Liam, Bong, then Murphy for me. So fourth. Still a good signing though.

Come the end of the season that will change. Jamie started on the bench. He has had a 3 game ban and Chris doesn't always play him away from home. Despite that he has 3 goals, several assists and he isn't even a striker. Jamie tends to have his best games during the winter months so still a lot to come from him yet this season. That said, I am biased because he is a player I have known for years but I do still honestly think he is the best close season signing

Getting back to the thread subject, Cummings is a decent prospect if a bit of a Ned. Was on Hearts' books but we let him go. A word of caution: He's never scored a goal in the Scottish Premiership. May well turn out to be a decent player but I really don't think he's ready for the English Championship. If he comes to Brighton, I'd expect him to be up the road on loan within six months.

Am I right in thinking Ned is the Scottish word for Chav ?
