Not normally one to disagree with fellow posters but think you are wrong about El Abd and Dunk, Lewis has much better vision than Adam, carries the ball out well from defence and picks a better pass.
Every week I see Dunk I think he is looking more and more like a young Mark Lawrenson, Dunk is quality.
Fantastic to have three good centre halves at the club.
But as we saw recently, AEA at left back was fine in a defensive role, but ask him to motor forward like Mattock/Reyes and we are found wanting. It will be backs to the walls for our defence, but lets hope we can get a few counter attacks going.

Quite happy to have Calderon & Dunk back for Liverpool, but I think we've found our defence for league games now, when all fit.

I thought Mattock had an excellent game, he was loving it, & Reyes did a decent job too. I do prefer El Abd and Greer as the centre halves, well as Dunk has done. El Abd uses the ball better than Dunk.

Agreed

Now trying and failing to find reference to this game - my recollection was lawrenson playing cf -thought was in a 1-0 away win against Liverpool (maybe I should return to just reading on NSC!)

In 1981/82, when we beat Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield, Lawrenson was already a Liverpool player.

I have to agree with that, Adam is sound but somewhat prone to exotic 'niggles' which could result in his dismissal during a game resulting in potential loss of points.

Whereas LD seems to get better and better, and, whilst not being a complete innocent in conceding, in this regard, he does not seem to bait defenders in quite the same way AelA.

One good thing about Dunk is that he's already had ten yellows so any more won't result in a suspension, unless he gets two in one match.

If I'm honest, I would love us to draw at Anfield and play the replay at the Amex. Boys would be satisfied and even more motivated to have survived against Liverpool and with the crowd as the 12th man, there's a chance albeit quite possibly small, we'll knock them out. We can dream, aye?
