You also usually have to treat it several years in a row. Don't know about diesel though, that would contaminate your soil. Best to use Roundup.

nah
my neighbour over the road was a welshman
spend money on roundup when he can get red diesel for next to nothing

Any green fingered types on here who can advise on getting rid of Japanese Knotweed?

I've dug it out several times, poured killer potions over it, burned it and put a curse on it.
Still it thrives!

Help!

A: You have committed the cardinal sin with Nippon Knotweed you should never ever dig it up, it will spread everywhere.
B: You should pay an expert to remove it.
C: I have a feeling you have to by law, but not entirely sure on that one.

You have to declare, when selling, if you have or have had Japanese Knotweed

We had it in our back garden 5 years ago where it had crept in from the patch of land behind us. Fortunately for us the landowners had leased the land to Shell who then had to call in a specialist company to treat it. Four sprayings over six months during the plant's growing season did the trick as the tubers have to be killed or it comes back more vigorous than before. I was told to keep all the paperwork as a conveyancing solicitor will need documentation when selling.

Red diesel soaked into the Welsh soil makes the land more valuable

If found on construction sites an excavation 2m below and around has to be carried out to ensure no further contamination.

As far as I remember there are laws about Knotweed like removing and disposing asbestos.
Its a ******* to get rid of and best done by a specialist company who know how to really get rid of it and where to take it.
Be a bit careful if you DIY.
You are permitted though to fly tip it into a palace fans garden.

Lots of Official stuff on t'interweb about it, digging it up and chopping is possibly the worse approach as it only needs a really teensy bit to start a new plant. Was in involved with some because of the "day job" a few years ago - to get rid it of it by excavation (and burning it on site - the only guaranteed way of doing for it) I think by law needed us to go down 2m and out for a 7m radius - not possible as we were dealing with an old burial ground! Fortunately copious applications of "Roundup" did for it and we keep a close eye on the spot to see if it re-emerges.

Because of the above I subsequently spotted a couple of the b**ggers next to the house - lots of "Roundup" (spray underneath the leaves as well) did for the foliage - the stalks left are hollow a bit like bamboo so more "Roundup" was carefully trickled down them and repeated. Touch wood it hasn't returned.

Don't shout help.

It smells the fear.
