They do fascinate me, have they flown over specially or are they uk based fans who come most weeks, how do they all get tickets navigating our system in English, and just how many are there every game?? Watching on telly yesterday, I don't think there was a crowd shot that didn't have Japanese people in it!
I think it's a mixture. When my train passes through Gatwick on the way to a match, there is always a few Japanese fans boarding the train.

The dad and lad next to me yesterday had flown in for one game. I’ve seen a few regulars too who presumably work or study here.

The Amex is also on the regular “Japanese tour to England” circuit thanks to Mitoma and the win over South Africa in the rugby. The Mrs shoots air rifles and pistols and is a regular at the range in Falmer. There are often Japanese people doing the range’s one off events before hitting the club shop even when we’re away or not playing.

I love seeing the support we have from around the world and when they come to The Amex to experience a match themselves, especially one with an ending like today, you know they will be even more hooked. They will pass on that support to their kids, friends and family who will have a connection to Brighton and want to come and see a game one day.

As a kid at senior school in the early 90s, where nobody else in my year group supported Brighton (I think some might now!) this still amazes me. I was in the queue for the club shop after the game today and probably 75% of those queuing were international supporters ready to spend on merch to take back home and proudly tell their friends about their team, my team, OUR team.
Nailed it
We have come a long way from the days of getting satisfaction about hearing about someone we don't know 'winning' a fight.

The only Brighton shirt I saw in Tokyo being worn by a Japanese fella had Milner on the back.
In the first video, when Charlie is watching the game in a bar, there’s a supporter with a Hinshelwood shirt on. Great stuff, loved both video’s and this thread.

[edit] Of course, when our South Korean player starts, that’ll be another large chunk of Asia coming I should think…

A couple of months or so ago, I passed a little group of what I presumed were Japanese fans in the concourse at the Amex. As I went past , I glanced at the back of the shirt of the fella , and was surprised to see that he had WEBSTER written on it.

I was astonished. Just shows, you cannot always make assumptions...
Interestingly this is how I struck up conversation with Charlie from the video on pre season tour, his son had a Hinshelwood shirt on and I said it was great seeing such a vast array of different players of names on shirts, when he then followed up with he used to watch Brighton at the Goldstone I was very surprised. Still not as surprising as a member of the Korean Seagulls with his Schelotto shirt!
