If you think the number of players not available for today (which is nearly another whole starting 11) our squad is seriously impressive.

Verbruggen
Webster
Dunk
Igor
Estupinan
Gross
Gilmour
Wieffer
March
Ferguson
Ensico
Undav

Absolutely bonkers! It does make you think some of the sales being considered really are required.
Pedro
Hinshelwood
Gruda and Gomez to come…

Need to get the squad trimmed!

Sima is not good enough for where we want to be, I saw plenty of him last season to think he’s one we could sell.

I think we may sell Sarmiento as well, simply too many wide options for him to get much if any game time.

I think we may sell Moran, just a hunch.

Weir, Ayari, Offiah, Samuels, Yalcouye, Omahony loan

Blimey how do you pick a first eleven out of that pool of talent!
That list of players that weren't involved is staggering. A solid first 11 and another 20 wonderkids.

Exciting stuff.

Taking the opposition into account, that was fun. Load of pace and movement across the front players. I don't think we saw a test of the Hurzeler tactics in this one but underlines the potential we have.
QPR will be better oppo and Villareal will be an even better insight into our potential under FH

Add in those that haven't travelled / didn't play - we have a HUGE squad - I expect several departures before the season starts.
As long as we keep the wingers I am happy 😂

Only saw first half, blooming work……

Thought we were great!

Appreciate it’s only a friendly, but even so, some nice stuff….

On the Border
I'm not sure about the standard of Japanese football, but we didn't look like a team that were playing their first friendly after the season's break, against a team that are in the middle of their league season.

The 343 formation worked in getting the ball forward and creating (and taking) chances.

Given the amount of quality wide players we now have, we shouldn't we looking for plan B, if injuries strike.

Not wanting to get too ahead of ourselves, but the 2026 Europa League final is in Istanbul.

I only started watching from 60 mins, didnt see Sima get on ball really at all before going off, did he offer much or look worth keeping hold of?

Theres obvs a bit of a gulf in class, but these 2 stats on my football app are still relevant...... and about to be broken.

"Brighton haven't won an away game in their last 8 matches"
"Kashima Antlers are unbeaten in their last 17 home games in all competitions"
Not really a home game for Kashima. They're from Ibaraki which admittedly is much closer to Tokyo than Brighton is but it's a bit like Brighton playing a home game in Gillingham....

Oh.

The J league never fails to disappoint. I was expecting much more from Kashima.
