Apparently Chelsea are looking for £8.5million for Giroud - even with £100K a week for 3 years that is less than £25million for the striker, wages included - that's not a bad price for a player of his calibre.

Reasonable shout if that is true. But it is still quite a short term fix. And is he really motivated to perform? Feels like another Benteke that has done it at a high level and won't have the drive at a lower level.

Not really, their owners are disgustingly wealthy, they’ll bankroll the losses and then pay the meagre FFP penalty they’ll incur. Villa’s only real problem is if these owners get bored.

That might possibly be the case with Sawiris - but Edens is American (owner of the Milwaukee Bucks) and the Americans that own sports teams believe that they should be making a profit from their investment. When he bought the Bucks in 2014 he paid $550million - it is now estimated to be worth more than $1.4billlion (he got the state taxpayers to kick in $240million - half the cost for a new arena) - the franchise made something like $100million profit in 2018 before debt servicing (that is another thing the Americans do - they take out a loan to cover the cost of their investment - get the money back and use the revenue to make the loan repayments a la the Glaziers at Man U).

Looks like he is going to Inter Milan anyway - if they kick in an extra £4million to Chelsea.

Dean Smith just confirmed on 5Live that Villa will be bringing in strikers this month. Very predictable.

Will Tony Bloom address our similar issue of a lack of creativity and goals?

Probably Murray. Can't see it but the team need something some fresh impetus

Deals completed or imminent:

Norwich - Duda on loan from Hertha, a Slovak international.
Norwich - Rupp bought from Hoffenheim.
Manure - Bruno Fernandes £60m from Sporting Lisbon.
Spuds - Gedson Fernandes loan from Benfica, with a £56m option.
Villa - Pepe Reina.

There is life yet in this window.

I wonder if Tony Bloom has plans to bring in any players?
