I thought about starting a thread for this question, but I figured this thread would do:

Suppose Dunk and Milner are both injured at the same time. Who do you want captaining the side? For me the only serious candidates in this post-Gross era (no I'm not crying I'm just chopping onions) are Welbeck, Mitoma, and JPvH. And I think I'd go with JPvH, then Welbeck, then Mitoma.

If he’s playing, I guess it would be Steele, as it has been previously.

Interested to know your reasoning for suggesting Mitoma would be considered for captain.

As far as I can tell from club videos, his English is not great, he seems very shy and quiet too. He also drifts in and out of games so not really one of those captains who leads by example either.

Just on the basis that he's our "superstar" and is a pretty calm dude. Definitely agree with the minuses you suggest.

He is getting better every game it seems. An absolute beast on the pitch but a real gentleman off of it, it seems. From the 1-1 draw against City a couple of seasons ago where he and Colwill kept Haaland quite he’s just sky rocketed, something clicked in that game and the encouragement he took from that performance has pushed him on to levels where he has to be one of the first names on the team sheet now.

Is it a 'good thing' to be on that list?

No Liverpool, Chelsea, ManUre Arsenal or Citeh player among the huffers and puffers of Everton and suchlike.
