I hope not he is too lightweight looked like a poor mans Cox. Thought he had some good moments but was generally the weak link in midfield today.

Sorry. but IMHO that's a ludicrous assessment. Easily MoM and the player with the biggest footballing brain on the pitch today.

Wouldn't have fitted into last season's hoof'n'hope team at all, but on today's evidence looks to be exactly the kind of smart player we need to carry on up the league.

Is that the joke for today!! What in front of Kishishev, Sparrow and to a slightly lesser extent Navarro who all stood out head and shoulders above him but then they should with their vast experience.

I thought he did reasonably well but people are getting carried away with their praise for him, probably because we have been so desperate for somebody to enthuse over for quite a long time.

Had a good game for me. Worthy of a start next week if Lua-Lua doesn't/hasn't signed by then. Baz looked lively when he came on but Smith would be a more solid option for now

I totally agree with you, and I think you spout some right shit on here

He was OK. Me and the person with me weren't too excited by him, and said when Lua Lua comes (or if) we will look much more balanced. Hardly beat anyone, and didn't look like it. Watch out for him, he could improve, but there's no way he had the best footballing brain, that's a silly comment :lolol:

Sparrow, Navarro, Kishi, Bennett, Painter, Elphich all had better games than Smith.

Only going on what I saw today. First time I've seen him play. And I know a player with a footballing brain when I see one. Instantly. And as we all know, the cognoscenti are NEVER wrong

Todays performance was the best I have seen him play in the pre season friendlies so lets not write him off but lets keep the praise in perspective and not get carried away and perhaps ruin him.

I can understand what BG is saying, and I agree to an extent. But this is a young chap who is still developing and maturing, and there's a lot of potential there. This will sound a weird comment, but I like his stature and shape, he's got a low centre of gravity and I think that given more game time and more experience, he'll develop in a talented ball player. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him in the team at Swindon next week, but I'd rather LuaLua was on our left!
