Its up to him ,to force his way back into the team.IMO he had some encouragement last night !

He's forth in the pecking order and probably quite a distance from the guy in third! Not exactly sure what you saw last night that might encourage him to think he might break into the squad!!

It would be a good move for him he already has a promotion on his cv and I can't see him getting anywhere near the first team at the moment

He's not technically a home grown player, is he? So if he went out on loan it would free up a place for either a foreign or home-grown player, which would give the recruitment team a bit more wriggle room.

Well if we assume Skalak is also going, we already have Ahannach who as an over 21 is perhaps working towards a place in the squad.

A loan to Sheff Utd for Murphy doesn't seem impossible, but I doubt he'll be sold.

I'm not sure he's even as high as fourth. Schelotto is ahead and I think he'd play Brown
wide ahead of him too.

Pretty sure he is a home grown. (Murray bizarrely is not)

Murphy is not home grown.

Nor, as you say, is Murray because of his time in the US.

Duffy and Krul, though, are - along with the obvious Dunk, Goldson, Rosenior, Stephens, Sidwell, March, and Baldock.

Murphy has to be the 4th choice winger, but that's his problem.

No manager is going to have 4 fully fit wingers in his 18 man squad.
Were anything to happen to one of the other 3 I'm sure Murphy would be in the first team squad.
But until that time 'his' place on the bench will always be taken up by a utility player like Schelotto, Brown and even Rosenior.

I think a loan or even a sale would probably suit him and also us as he will not figure again for us this season other than perhaps in the FA Cup if we play a changed side. This more evident with Baldock and Kayal coming back in the reckoning.

Of course I'd forgotten the return of a centre forward and a central midfielder will also drastically reduce Jamie 'I'm a winger' Murphy's chances of first team action.

Home grown status applies to players that develop through English and Welsh clubs only, so Murphy (who came up with Motherwell) doesn't meet the requirement.

Didn't we field a rather strong looking team the other week at Stevenage? Squad players really need to take their chances on such games, like the LC but sadly they don't. Hard to argue their case.

It's not necessarily 4 wingers in the 18 but four in the 25. Why would you name two specialist wingers on your subs bench? Brown is more versatile as is the Greyhound. I'd even put Rosenior ahead of Murphy.

Yes we did but everyone of the fringe 1st teamers looked about as interested as I do when I realise I need to iron something .

I've also seen rumours that Glasgow Rangers might be interested in him as well.

Apparently he was brought up as a Rangers fan.
