If it was a kids playground game, and Holroyd, Paynter, Turienzo and Wilson were left to be picked, I still think Wils would be last.
I travelled thousands of miles week in and week out to watch him play, and he is unfortunately lazy, lightweight, disinterested, devoid of any striker's positional instinct, and out of his depth. No way on gods earth is he, for example, the next Lingard. Mourinho will chop him. End of.

I didn't think that by the end - although he clearly was ill / not fit and that limited him.

I'm sure there's something wrong with his health/fitness - otherwise Man Utd would have been annoyed with his lack of game time for us.
I wouldn't be massively surprised if he retired from professional football.

If we got the player who arrived initially, and he was healthy, then yes, without a doubt, because that player had more about him than our other forwards.

If we got the player who was with us by the end, then no, as the drop off was quite incredible.

Like most have said, only CH and JW will truly know why that drop off occurred.

Skillful but weak with either long term health problems or nerves that prevent him from being a long term pro.

Get in a couple of proven goalscorers. Wilson should be one of Mourinho's first problems. as harsh as that is to type.

So why did CH keep bringing him on? I love CH, like everyone I bow to his judgment. But there came a point, after the repeated on field puking incidents and associated poor performances, where you had to question why on earth was he even making the final 18? And at Boro, when everyone else ran themselves into the ground for th last 40, Wils just jogged around, no sweat on shirt and no grass on knees. And that was it for me, one of the biggest games in our history, and he just didn't get it. Health induced or otherwise, he is a million miles short of the badge slapping leave-it-all-on-the-pitch attitude that our core squad has. One game we drank for an hour post match in the North, waddled off to the station, and saw him sauntering out in his massive black Range Rover evoque with his bird, not a care in the world. That was the home game v Derby which arguably cost us everything. Nuff said.

Thanks but no thanks, that £10kpw+ will be well spent on someone who thinks earning your corn through your performance, not your heritage, is the most important thing.

At Derby away I thought he was going to score 25 in the rest of the season, he was fantastic, and ran them ragged. Something went very wrong, is it sorted? Didn't look it by the end of the season. As it stands I wouldn't be keen but they know more about the long term prognosis than we do...

Baldock - prone to knocks, creator rather than finisher
Wilson - the only alternative with pace (for 5 seconds)
Hemed - ever present, decent sniffer but slower than BG on an irony thread.

Had to bring him on in other words. We won't be in that position next season with any luck.

Just got a feeling, whilst I doubt it will be with us, Wilson will go on to be a great success in the near future and a lot of people will look rather stupid for saying they wouldn't have him back. Of course I will probably end up being completely wrong.

I don't know what was wrong with the lad - whatever it was, I hope he can come through it - but something is/was wrong. If Jose gets the MU job, then it's unlikely Wilson will get a look in for the foreseeable. He has a good touch and when on song could be a real asset, but like Texeira, maybe doesn't have the heart for a Championship dogfight

Hopefully he'll have a rest, do a full pre-season here and hit the ground running in August.

Based on what I watched this season I can't see the lad bagging 15-20 goals next season, therefore I vote leave it.
