Really think this will be the strongest Premier League we've seen yet. Lots of strengthening going on.

Everton have made three signings that wouldn't look out of place in a top 6 team here. They have one of the greatest managers of all time and are signing players of that calibre. Obviously, they've not lived up to their expectations recently but these signings do feel a little different than the £90million they spent on Sigurðsson, Tosun and Walcott a few years ago.

I agree with everything especially that this could be the strongest prem player wise. However, I can also see finishing no higher than 7th probably bellow 7th if i'm honest which highlights how good this league is.

I first read this thinking they signed Jay Rodriguez.:ffsparr:

I've not seen too much of James Rodriguez but I remember him scoring a brilliant goal in the 2014 World Cup for Columbia. How did he do performance wise for Real Madrid? I don't really follow Spanish football.

I'm not convinced with Doucare. Didn't look particularly impressive against us but did score a good goal to be fair.

Considering his price Richarlison hasn't been a great signing for Everton from what I've seen. I wouldn't be surprised if they're already looking to offload him with these big names coming in.

James Rodriguez was pretty anonymous both in Real and during his loan at Bayern. Definitely not bad but not really what they hoped for either.

Richarlison is arguably the first player on the team sheet for Everton. He will probably stick around as he is one of their best players but not yet good enough to be chased down by the bigger teams.

Well, we won't have to wait much longer to find out. I'll hazard a guess that they manage to offload 3 or 4 of them.

Maybe but I reckon some would be on loan.

Take Sigurdsson for example. He cost £45m I think and will be on a decent wage (£60k/70k per week? Possibly more). How many clubs are going pay any sort of money and that wage for a bloke who hasn't cut it in a mid-table PL club?

Yep. James has Everton or Palace written all over it.

A midfield forward line like the below is pretty frightening...

..........Alan.....Rodriguez....
Alec Iwobi...................Walcott

If he was still any good he wouldn't have singed for Everton, 7th.

As for Richarlison don't get that comment at all he's been carrying Everton by far their best player at the moment.

Fair enough. Just seen his goal scoring stats for Everton and they do look very good. Basing it on stats, I take back that they'll offload him. Scored far too many goals.

Ive got a Toffee mate who doesn't rate him. Apparently he's always falling over and sulking. I just got the impression he wasn't living up to the hype there from what my mate was saying.

Had a little browse on a Everton reddit forum and it does seem there was mixed opinions on him with their fans. But to be fair, we all used to slate Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes when they were here so not the best place to form an opinion from.

I guess it shows that sometimes it's the manager not the club that draws the player in. We were lucky with Poyet with that.

edit - it will end in tears for Everton though, as always.

This isn't wholly true. He was sublime in his first season (his only under Ancelotti) for Real Madrid (17 goals from Midfield) before a mixture of injury and a falling out with Zidane who favoured Isco led him to leave the club on loan. He performed solidly for Bayern Munich helping them to win both Bundesliga titles during his stay with a pretty consistent domestic return for a midfield of a goal every three games. He was an Ancelotti signing at Bayern and without him at the helm and the possibility for Bayern to get the sublime Philippe Coutinho to directly replace him, they didn't take up their option at the end of his loan spell.

Ultimately, his story is one of finding a father figure in Ancelotti and performing at his best under him. I think this is a sublime signing - he's costing them the same as Webster FFS.

Not sure what you've seen but Richarlison is a fantastic player. If I had a free pick of any in the prem , he would deffo be one I would weigh up.

Quality player

So Leeds direct rivals then ?

Hardly, studio150 said "clearly looking to move towards Europa League qualification". Clearly, Leeds are aiming much higher than that*.

*as soon as Bielsa signs this deal he was "very, very, close" to signing over two weeks ago...

Rodriguez is a typical Everton / West Ham signing

- Was top quality
- Now on the downgrade
- Large Fee
- Massive wages
- They will want him away in 2 years time.

How many times are we told that Everton have done really well in the transfer window only to see them flounder the following year? I'm predicting take 68 of that familiar story.

It's his attitude that people don't like. Bit like Mitrovic or Andone with us. Genuinely think Everton would have been in west ham/ villas position without him last season.

For me that don't look that frightening. Way too attack minded. Walcott passed it. Iwobi bit of a flopp. Think if you were to push Richarlison to the right, place DCL down the middle and have Bernard on the left with James between them with Gomes and Allan behind you have a much more balanced lineup. Doucoure, Iwobi ect.. off the bench.

----Gomes----Allan----
-------Richarlison-- James ------ Bernard------
---------DCL------

He can be a handful, but I’m pretty sure I could pick a lot of others before him.
Consistency just isn’t a word you use a lot with him in the same sentence.

James Rodriguez has been underwhelming everywhere he's been since the world cup in 2014 with occasional moments of magic.

He's the absolute poster boy for "Never buy someone off the back of doing well in one tournament".
