Think you have the wrong presenter mate. He. Is always arguing for the underclass and only recently was saying how house price increases is not right on people trying to get on the ladder..
This is the same **** who calls all "leave voters" racists basically. He makes out he's there for the lower classes but he really isn't.You won't get a word in and everybody who voted out is completely stupid and so on.....

I must say that after I heard him say "tell me what's on the other side of the door" about 100 times in one programme, relating to Brexit, I made the conscious decision never to listen to his show again.
Yep....
The man like many others is very weak and scared of change.Really is the most petulant **** I've ever listened too and have to turn the radio off as he has his fan club bumming him.

Yes i have, but stopped listening to him about five years ago when he started frothing at the mouth about UKIP.

Hardly frothing. Rather calm I thought. Occasionally simplistic, but normally gets to the nub of the issue.

I'm pretty new to him, but you've accused him of calling all leave voters racists. Care to find some audio or video footage of him doing so?

Because Paxman is class, this bloke is a tool.

Why?
Because he calls out Farage in that clip.
Or asking why people voted leave, are you a UKIP leaver by any chance.
I thought that clip was excellent, certainly better than Kate Garroway asking Teresa May where she got that gorgeous lipstick from.
I would like to see him with front bench conservative and Labour ministers to see how he deals with them as well because if he does have an agenda then you are right, but if he dishes it out to them the way he did with Farage then I would like to see him in Paxmans position.
I don't care who he rips apart because I hate them all, I just like to see the truth revealed, in fact I think he should replace the hapless Andrew Marr.

Not based on that clip at all. Paxman is a class act. Paxman also knows how to interview (not just to shout people down like O'Brien does if their answers (insomuch as they have a chance to give them) clash with his agenda). This bloke is a yob, a bully, and only interested in his own opinions. What the Americans call, I believe, a Shock Jock; and therefore by definition a bit of a nob.

With Nick Ferrari, Nigel Farage and Katie Hopkins in the same stable he seems like a lone beacon in a sea of right wing reactionaries.

Although, Farage and Hopkins make Ferrari seem fluffy.

O'Brien is up there with the others you mention. Just a different flavour. People often praise radio/TV presenters who share their world view.

He makes snide comments every week about brexiteers and does claim they're racist and stupid although covers his own butt by saying ok "not all" shortly after but he clearly has his vision of what he thinks and has to watch his mouth being that he's on the radio naturally.

You can't argue with the man as he will cut that person off the line as soon as he doesn't like what he hears:tosser:

I heard him say as much. He was the plugging a book he wrote a while back where he advanced the argument that any discussion of immigration and border control was racist. He said the Brexit debate proved the point. I haven't read the book but that was his summation. By the way he attended an expensive boarding school and is the very definition of the type of hand wringing middle class liberal that is currently destroying the Labour movement. He is about as far from the interests of working class people as is possible. He will sound fine to people who echo his views but he is definitely not an objective commentator.

I hear you.
And that clip is the first time I have seen/heared him, so I realise I have no position to take up here, and I agree Paxman was the best, but I do like people like O'Brien, bully or not, who can really put politicians on the spot, something that is really lacking on TV especially at the moment with so much material.
As long as he does it to them all from all parties.

Can't stand the bloke....A mega lefty who sulks like a spoilt brat when anyone who voted out speaks to him.Up his own arse and in my view a typical socialist who dislikes anything British.

He's on air in two mins... don't forget to tune in

Lazy, lazy argument. Just because he went to an expensive boarding school means he cannot be a liberal... ffs champagne socialist?

The media needs many more people like him...

Of course he can and he is. Let's not pretend though that he champions the interests of anyone outside London and the chattering classes. If that's for you then so be it. I will pass.

As he says often, if you have done alright for yourself, and are left leaning, you are a champagne socialist, if you have not done so well, it is the politics of envy.

He is definitely a bit further left than me on most issues, and gets up my nose a bit at times, but usually he is open to logical argument, and on many occasions has admitted to having had his mind changed by the debate that has had with callers.

Perhaps you prefer the " balanced " views of the egregious Nick Ferrari. James Obrien is clearly much more intelligent and better informed than the average LBC listener and copes with the difference pretty well. Very difficult not to be patronising to many of them

As the Brexit slowly motion car crash continues, I can see O'Brien only going from strength to strength. He's pretty much a lone voice on a right wing dominated talk back radio circuit in the UK.

Three things:
-- he hasn't said that all leave voters are racist, I doubt he'd even say that even many leave voters are racist, but would probably say that some are; he's also said that UKIP has an above-average number of racists within their ranks -- which seems like a pretty accurate assessment. You of course are free to post direct quotations where he'd say such things
-- the problem with the working class (whatever that is) is that it doesn't seem too proficient at identifying its interests, let alone acting on them
-- there is no such thing as an objective commentator; someone on here compared O'Brien to Paxman, who is a Tory
