I'm not surprised ITV have got him as their new posterboy; ITV has always been tabloid TV for Twats.

I can picture the scene in a nursing home 2058.

Corden: Gavlar! Gavlar!
Walliams: I'm a lady! I'm a lady!
Lucas: Yeah but no but!
Tate: Am I bovvered?

While the nursing staff say 'Yes Mr Gervais. Your dance is VERY funny. Now come back to your chair while Countdown is on.'

I read last week that Stephen Gerrard finds him funny.

I think that says it all for me.

And DKM is right, less should be more - by the end of the WC, I'm going to absolutely hate the sight of the fat "footy bloke" tedious old gimp.

Great news, that show's hillarious...!

Sorry, when I said hillarious, I actually meant 3rd rate pile of old toss which is about as funny as discovering a lump. 'They Think It's All Over' (which is obviously what Sky were trying to rip off), even at its very lowest point (which was VERY low...), was exponentially funnier than fat boy's laugh vacuum.

His Times article was KNACK ALL to do with football though.

The Times had Phil Jjupitus doing a column on mondays in the sport supplement, I never read one......he lasted one season

He wrote and performed in 3 series of Gavin & Stacey and 2 sketches for charity that I think were brilliant. Don't see the hate for the guy, he says in interviews all the time that he loves football so I doubt he's gonna turn down work doing something he has a real interest in. For a bit of balance I will say that Horne and Corden and Lesbian Vampire Killers were total turd.

Gavin and Stacey is rubbish in my humble opinion. I can't stand it. His sketch slagging off the England players for failing to reach Euro 2008 was brilliant, and his Sports Relief sketch was comedic genius. In my opinion, he kind of epitomises what the TV thinks is a passionate English football fan. He's just a funny bloke who is flavour of the month at the moment. Why so many people feel the need to get together and spout miserable rubbish about him is beyond me. He'll be out of sight soon enough, but while he's popular, let's slag him off and moan as much as possible.

He was pretty good at hosting the Game podcast though. Unfortunately they've now given that gig to Lord Gabrielle Marcotti who has to be the most egotistical, removed from the real world pundit I've ever heard.

Corden - Gavin and Stacey good, The History Boys good (everyone always forgets that!). Stop hosting football shows though, you're a twat in real life!

Changing the subject somewhat The Independent has a regular Dom Joly feature tagged onto the back of it's sports section. Anyone seen it - no thought not, keep turning the page.

Joly manages to top the lot for me, he is a comedian who is not funny, he is a sports writer who appears not to like any sport at all and his talent warrants a tiny one off section in his obscure local paper. The only thing he loses out to Corden on is over-exposure, however for me any exposure for this pillock is over-exposure.

rant over and relax
