Tom Cruise is 5 foot 8 inches and it doesn't seem to hold him back
I can't watch the Jack Reacher movies because Cruise is cast as Reacher, who is supposed to be about 6'6", grizzled and not particularly attractive. Whoever cast Cruise as Reacher is a moron lacking integrity.

These things matter to me. Bond perhaps less so because whilst based on books, the films have really made the character, but Reacher/Cruise was inexcusable imo.

One thing I took from the movie is I’d like to drive up through Norway, it looks amazing.

This film, as well as being excellent, has some gorgeous Norwegian scenery and great panning shots of Oslo’s skyline. More recently remade, almost scene for scene by the Yanks with Liam Neeson in the lead role and set in Denver, and as much as I hate the Americans doing that, it is possibly Leeson’s most (intentionally) amusing screen action romp.

The odd line of course, but the Roger Moore films often veered towards clowndom. Connery and Craig have been by far and away the best Bonds. Gritty, and convincingly brutal.

Roger Moore was more like an affable uncle.

In my opinion , the bond storyline is always totally ridiculous anyway , so it might as well be played slightly tongue in cheek which is why Moore was so good . I don’t want gritty and violent . Don’t confuse stylish humour with below par acting . Look at Cary Grant one of the top Hollywood actors of all time , most of his best films were when he mixed his style with humour even in classic thrillers like north by northwest . Daniel Craig is a million miles away from this level of sophistication even if he dresses the part .

My sentiments as well. Craig always looks like he'd rather be somewhere else, Moore always looked like he was having a blast, and that came across on the screen. Craig is great at cynical and world weary, but really can't do stylish humor or sophistication IMHO.

Feels as though people are generally putting on a somewhat blinkered Bond fan front on NTTD, and that it is actually a pretty underwhelming experience soon forgotten. (I haven’t seen it, but might)

Fantastic film……utterly ruined by the last 10 minutes. I came out feeling a little depressed by it, not the feeling you expect or want from a Bond film.
‘That’ is not supposed to happen to Bond, end of. It is one of the unbreakable rules of cinema. Cary Joji ******** can **** right off, I truly hope he is never invited to do Bond again. Turning him to a complete pussy and then ‘that’.

Well... that part didnt annoy me as much - Fleming did similar things to him - but it depends on how they solve it in the next movie.

I assume the next movie, after a pause, will be effectively a reboot.

Just seen this movie at Cineworld. I won’t get drawn into miserablist over-analysis.

It’s exceptional, we all loved it, darker and more sensitive than any other Bond film.

I love Daniel Craig anyway (not just Bond films) and his performance is great.

What a intro, plus those Aston Martin’s are stunning.

Widespread applause at the end from a packed auditorium.

Cruise cast Cruise as Reacher. He produces nearly all his own films, it’s the only way he can insure himself to do his own stunts and action stuff at 50+.

And yes, he is awful in that role. In fact those two films are altogether rubbish.

Good, but not great would be my verdict. As Swansman alluded to, I'm not overly interested in the soft side of Bond, the character arc of him 'finding himself' just leaves me cold. Kids in Bond films ? Mmnah. Not for me, thats just not how these films roll. Just get on with epic action, murdering people, and making withering pithy remarks.

The Aston Martin is SENSATIONAL in this, and should leave all Bond afficienados thrilled. And there are some great set pieces. But once again - Casino Royale just blows every subsequent one out of the water. I can't help it, every time I'm watching a Bond film, I wish I'm watching that one instead.

70%

Ditto. I enjoyed the film and some of the sequences were great. I just got a bit bored with the same old story line theme at the end - bad guys set up a secret base on a remote island that needs to be blown up. Who’d have thought….

I must be easy to please . I love Tom Cruise and those movies too.

Like the Taken trilogy or Gerard Butler’s Hollywood movies, just pure entertainment and the good guy winning.

If your choice of cinemas is the Odeon Brighton or Cineworld Marina, choose the latter.

We’ve been to both in the last month. The Odeon’s the same as it ever was with small seats, limited legroom.

Cineworld used the long Lockdowns for a complete refurbishment, all seats are huge, have a bit of a recline with no impact on those behind you because the legroom is now vast. Perfect for a 2 hour, 40 minute movie!

I like Cruise in a lot of stuff. Butler too. Not a fan of Neeson I must say. But yeah, no problem with a lot of TC films

Spot on

Brilliant picture.

But trying not to issue spoilers, I first saw my first bond film, Dr No when I was about 8, 55 years ago and the ending of this film hit me right between the eyes regarding my age! I know it’s a bit self- indulgent, but I also felt that as the character ended, I felt overwhelmingly sad as I saw every film, in order and felt I grew up with bond and went through my life as watching the bond character develop! And that ends.

I assume this heralds the spin off series that Amazon wanted to make!

True. Though I choose Odeon because I’ve got a Limitless card so for 9.99 a month I can see as many films as I like. Plus it’s very easy for me to get to. But Cineworld is nice now.
