Tony Bloom has shown he doesn't sell, especially during January.

That may be so, but we've never had silly money offered for anyone before. Absolutely not saying it will happen, but if Liverpool (for example) come in with a 50/60 Million bid for White I can't see how it could be turned down to be honest.

Have you examined our accounts to know this?
Don't have to 'know' what's in the accounts - financial considerations are a big part of football, and like any other club we need to consider financial options.

And why would we sell White, one of our most promising players when we have other peripheral players who aren’t involved in the squad who we could sell first?
Yes, but that's not the way selling works - you can only sell what people want to buy. If Liverpool come in for White, Tony and co. can either get a price that they think it's worth selling, or they can say, no thanks, hot enough, no sale. What they can't do is turn round and say, no, you can't have White, but you can have one of Ostigaard, O'Hora or Clarke........

And not to mention we have had tremendous outlay of players already in the past few months. Mooy, Knocky, Dale, Glenn, Shane.
So I don’t see how one could be so certain we “have to” sell Ben White.
Leaving out Knocky, I doubt if money received for the other four would cover the cost of Locadia! We don't have to sell White, I don't think - but if the price offered makes sense, getting big money for him makes more sense than a couple of million here and there for fringe or promising junior players.

White has been very impressive at times but far from the finished article as Rashford showed earlier this season, whether Liverpool think he’s worth the risk to buy in the window and put straight into their first team in January is another thing.
Is Moder going to get much of a look-in between January and the end of the season ahead of our current midfield options, I can’t see it

So let’s break this down.

Every club has been hit by covid. I think Proper is first in line to be sold, and I expect a deals been made already hence we haven’t seen him. Also we have AJ on the sidelines, then the likes of Molumby, loaned players out. So if cash is urgently needed (and I see no evidence to back this up) there are objectively plenty of players who can be sold before White.

And not to mention we have had tremendous outlay of players already in the past few months. Mooy, Knocky, Dale, Glenn, Shane.

So I don’t see how one could be so certain we “have to” sell Ben White. But I’m not surprised to hear this. Plenty are keen to sell one of most promising young players for some reason.

Could question as much in this post as you have in the one you were referencing.......

Pröpper has been ill/injured, that’s why we haven’t seen him......AJ also injured......Molumby is behind Bissouma, Lallana, White and others.......and none of these would generate much cash relative to what we’d demand for White or Lamptey. If a big cash injection was required the it’s more likely we would cash in on Lamptey or White IMO

Good news is Tony is minted and probably doesn’t require a large or urgent injection of cash, so we’ll only be selling players Potter doesn’t see figuring, or where we get eyewatering ridiculous offers.

I don’t think White has shown anywhere near enough for anyone to offer big money at this stage. I also think the club would love to sell him for a decent fee if an offer came which is why I believe he’s getting onto the team sheet every match.

We're playing him to put him in the shop window?

Having turned down a bid of £25 million a few weeks ago?

Wow. I hadn't realised the club is being run by utter, utter morons. Thanks for the heads up

That’s my point. We have no need to sell Ben White.

The person I was responding to was making the assertion that we’d have sell him due to financial issues, I see no such evidence of that. But even if so, there’d surely be other players we’d let go before Ben.

We’d need to sell AJ, Pröpper, Molumby and one other at least to get what we would want for White. Ain’t going to happen- if any go it’s because we (Potter) don’t want them

I think he’s been very good you don’t notice him much in games because he’s good at doing his job. That tackle on Watkins last week top draw.

I think Tony is very clever and is building something very special. He is also very rich and that's why we don't sell our best players. Tariq and Ben white are potentially champions league players. If that is the aspiration he will want to keep them. So will potter and ashworth. Why sell your best assets unless your hand is forced? It might happen but my sense is we are aiming incredibly high now. I have spent 40years watching the Albion and we have never been anywhere near this level before. The balance and focus at the club now is superb. :clap2:

This.

50 years in my case.

The quality of football and the players themselves are off the scale as far as we are concerned. Anyone not realising this has spent too much time sniffing the heroin off the ring piece of a crack whore. Fact.

Surely you'd sniff crack of the ring piece of a crack whore? In any case, yes I agree entirely.

Anyway...

That Jakub Moder! I hear he's good. Never seen him.

Let’s loan him to Liverpool? (At an astronomical price) Think how much he’d come on at Liverpool and how much more they’d pay to keep him?

I am sure it's possible to sniff heroin off the ring piece of a crack whore AND realise that the quality of our football and the players themselves is off the scale.

Just don't ask me how I know.

I don’t want to become a club that doesn’t allow players to go if the opportunity arises... If we block players from leaving that want to go, then we won’t ever sign players like Lamptey ever again. If a good offer comes in and the player wants to leave, then the player should leave.

Yes I agree. Again, I don’t understand why I’m not being clear. I do not think we need to sell. This is what I’ve said in the last 2 posts of mine you’ve quoted and replied to me to argue as if I’m saying the opposite.

But let me repeat that once more. I do not want us to sell, I do not think we should sell, and I do not believe we have to sell. The people who have asserted this are in this thread. Not me. And I was taking them to task for this silly motion.

But I’ll repeat once more. I do not believe we have to sell Ben or any player. I’m not sure how I can be any more clear on this point.

I can write it in crayon if you like.

[emoji122][emoji122][emoji122][emoji122] exactly well said.

And yet some numpteys were desperate for us to accept Leeds first £20m bid for some reason. Thank goodness Tony is in charge.
