Shame, one time got played at at centre back all accounts came back very positively. But in Gus we trust hope we have some sort of sell on fee though

Hope McNulty does stay as the bloke has never really had the chance to prove his worth. Also, I think he must have thought about swapping living in Brighton for Scunthorpe wasn't so great either.

Jake Wright gone - good; not good enough for a league 1 side chasing promotion...
The Hawk gone - excellent... no explanation necessary...
Jimmy Mac staying - I hope so, although he still needs to prove himself post-nasty injury... I believe he will, although Paynter is stiff competition...

I hope Mcnulty stays. Remember that we only have painter as are recognized left back and Somehow I don's like the idea of El-Abd filling in again, especially if we will be at the top end of the league.

We have never seen the best of Mcnulty. The day Adams got sacked I went up to Millwall and he played a blinder, he was are best player by far. We have also seen little snippets of what he can do like the cross for the goal away at (Exeter?). Certainly, to have Jimmy Mac as back up would show excellent strength and depth at this level.

As far as McNullty is concerned he might be a very good player on the left in a 3-5-2 formation with Bennett on the right. If we are going to play a "flat back four" however, I think Paynter's defensive qualities make him a much better bet.

McNulty would be excellent backup to Painter, BUT why on earth do people think that he would settle for being a squad player in L1, if he has the offer of a place in the Championship?

^ Plus, it would seem he wasn't happy to fight with Painter for that LB spot last season. What makes people think this coming season will be any different?

For the record, I hope he stays as he's an exciting player to watch, even if he doesn't match the defensive qualities of Marcos.

A loan back to the Irons with a recall clause would be the way to go, but Gus has said he wants players willing to fight for their place within the squad.

I just hope we get a decent fee, at least what we paid plus a sell on clause.

Because, I would suggest, in weighing up two sets of considerations, notwithstanding the Lovely Seaside City -v- Mothballed Steel Town debate, he is looking longer term than this coming season, has seen the potential of both clubs, and plumped for the one with the Meccano structure on the hill.

I don't think footballers ever look beyond the next season. Three weeks is 'long term' for most.
