I don't Care who any of the presenters are, I'm watching the sport. I just want the presenter to provide accurate information about the event, venue and competitors, I have no interest whatsoever in who the presenter is, or anything else about him. IMO this is symptomatic of how sport has changed for the worse over the (recent) years. the stars are those on the pitch or track, not someone who can talk into a microphone, and invariably waffle on just because they love the sound of their own voice. At times it is acceptable to just shut up and let the images do the talking.

Halftime would be interesting then, lets just watch the presenters sit there and say nothing. With any sporting event, you have the build up leading to the start, and thats where a good presenter will come into his own. I do not think many people would put the football on at kick off time, then turn it off at half time, back on for the second half, off at full time and not forgetting to sit through the whole of it with the sound off. Its all about building the atmosphere and excitement and a good presenter will do that, my vote goes to JH

Correct. And during the event a good reporter can build on the pictures and fully convey the excitement, tension and emotion. When you think back over all the classic commentary lines over the years they pretty much have all done this.

As a Formula 1 fan, I think he's the only piece of the jigsaw that Sky are missing. They've taken the best of the BBC and added plenty to the coverage themselves, but I think getting JH on board would have made them even more superior.

Why do you love SKY so much? they are all over paid knobs and who's over paying them???

Last year on the BBC with JH, EJ and DC presenting was absolutely fantastic.
I like Jake Humphrey and the fact he supports his local(ish) team. Great commentator too in my opinion. He's only 33 so has plenty of time to get even better.

Jake is a good presenter, what I fail to understand is why Claire Baldwin is used so much as I find her boring as for Gabby Logan she is hopelessly out of her depth and used to write a really poor column in the Times.

Nobody forces people to sign up for Sky, so moaning about the cost is ridiculous. The fact is they present sport in a vastly superior way to any other channel. The BBC is so boring and ITV is shambolic, but Sky is just bloody brilliant in every way. I honestly rate it as one of the major influences on my life. Football, cricket, F1, golf, whatever it is they do it magnificently.

As much as I like some of what you post to say Sky Sports is a major influence on your life beggars the question what sort of life do you lead ?

Very much this. I don't actually think their coverage is that great either. It's way too hyped and over egged, they'll have you believing the dull mid-week Bolton Blackburn 0-0 you just witnessed was crucial sport and your life lesser without it. They are the total opposite to what SuperPhil wrote.

Exactly nobody forces people to pay for Sky so why do they? They could spend there money on there kids, pension, etc. I feel it's a major luxury in life when you can get Sport on tv for free and all they do is a tart it up and everyone has an orgasm over it.

I will always pay extra for a quality product, but a tv company really doesn't sit with me, as i have nothing to show for it at the end of the day.

I love sport as much as anyone but most of these Sky backed sports hero's are massively overpaid. You may well have a different perspective on things as you grow older and life has more important things.

Go on..... ditch Sky and go out that extra night a week you may find it more influential on your life.

As it happens Steve, I'm often one of those viewers. I guess I lead a hectic life, so can quite happily miss the build up as long as I don't miss the action. If I record a full day's worth of BSB for example, I'll end up zipping through and watching the races only despite having a lot of time for the presenter and guests. Often with football, I find the build up and half time analysis quite tedious with whoever is involved often saying any old guff really.

JH is really good. Great on the F1 but has the ability to look comfortable on other sports. By the way Trevor Nelson was absolutely shocking in my opinion.

What a surprise you found my post then, surely you should have gone straight to the end, after all this is the same as the presenters, people discussing. Maybe you will have missed this comment lol
