Same as the senior team. We've looked useful going forward but amateur hour at the back. Shocking how we've lost the ability to bring through defensive leaders - where's our Terry Butcher, Des Walker, Sol Campbell, Tony Adams, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry etc. We have always been behind technically but could depend on leadership & bottle... We don't have that anymore

too many foreign imports.....eight of the starting X1 for Italy had la liga experience this season......say no more....

That is the easy answer to blame it on that.

The last world cup we didn't qualify for was 94 and we had a restriction on overseas players still in place (I believe) and only a handful of foreign players.

The attitude of our young English players is terrible - Dier and Ince rejected call ups to the U21s this season - Sterling was too tired to play for the seniors and players like Barkley deem the U21s beneath them now he has a massive 13 caps for the full team.

Add the new pictures of Grealish pictured on the floor out of his head drunk and Whilshire (who I rate highly when fit) seen out numerous times drunk/smoking etc.

Then you have Sterling again, who playing in the U21s would have been a benefit to him more interested in getting more money by moving clubs.

This isnt a new thing, players Like Bentley and Lennon did it before.

Stop this sort of behavior and we may see an increase in performance and managers trusting our youth players more.

Then there is clubs in the lower tier charging the earth for young British talent - not that I blame them - but why would you spend double the amount on a player with the same skill set just because they are English?

Southgate proved he's hopelessly out of his depth too last night. Playing four in midfield is one thing, but playing two of our most lightweight midfielders in the centre was ridiculous - reminded me of something Hyppia would do. Ward-Prowse is quality, yet barely played. Chalobah was undroppable. Loftus-Cheek showed his class, so didn't start a game.

We didn't need to win last night. We should have played a tight game, much like the Italians would have. But no, Southgate went back to 4-4-2 & we sucked

The most damning stat to come out of last nights game was the young Italians had double combined games in their top flight than our players.

Whatever the cited reason for this means that our most promising youngsters are probably a season and half behind the Italians in games played, experience and development within a top level environment at 20 years old.

Exactly right. Shocking from Southgate - not only last night but all tournament. They qualified flawlessly with a settled system and settled team, set off to the finals off the back of a great win over Germany, and he threw it all away by ****ing about with the team as soon as they got there.

Bizarre.

I believe that was the starting 11?

Through Ward Prowse in there ( who should have been starting) and that number would have been cut in half.

His selections last night was bizarre
