I thought that, but thinking about it they are only working in compression, as in taking the weight from above, , any sideways movenment that make them vurunable is counterd by the angled struts to stop this.

Scaffold tubes are thin. As you say its all about the bracing.

Thats the bit behind the stand - The terrace will be put onto the slope
