Absolutely terrible first half with everyone around agreeing. Steadied himself second. Neat and tidy but a couple of poor crosses going forward. Still don't see what exceptional qualities he has to enable him to be a top half EPL player.

19 years old, playing out of position and just back off the end of a long term injury.

But that’s right.. you write him off based on the above 🤦🏼

Felt sorry for him today. He is no left back and Saka had him on toast all first half. We all owe Declan a pint for getting sent off and stopping the onslaught!

With specialists Estupinan and Ferdi available, I’m hoping this stop-gap has now come to an end.

Love JH, but not his position.

In all honesty I’ve said it before but I’m not sure where his position actually ‘is’ - he reads the game very well and is versatile but if most players are fit does he play and if so where ?

As a youngster I kind of feel like he needs to nail down a position and master it

Jack at left back doesn’t work can we stop this experiment
It's not an experiment. It's been cover for injuries and we haven't lost a game that he's played there. Hinshelwood has done a sterling job, like he does in anywhere he's asked to cover. He's not ideal because he's right footed, but he's a hard working and intelligent player who has not and will not let his team down.

A lot of left backs struggle with Saka and Arsenal’s movement. I thought he did okay to be honest, some severe criticism given it was actually Dunk’s mistake that led to the goal.
Exactly.
He had a difficult start, then during an injury break Fab gave him some advice and he then steadied down, it did coincide with our best period possession wise.

Saka got away twice in the second half, I think that’s a fair effort for a 19 year old, with less than ?25 PL appearances against an established England international.

Do you remember how he played last season at right back? He scored 3 goals in 12 games which is a cracking record.

Incidentally, McCoist commented that he delivered one of the best crosses of the game, when he was at RB.

Saka was all over him in the first 15 minutes but I actually thought he showed a lot of strength and intelligence to get to grips with him by around the 20 minute mark. It certainly wasn't a case of things only changing after the red card in the second half. Jack had Saka under control (as much as a top player can be controlled) long before that at 11v11.

Well he’s not a left back. So cut him some slack. He stepped into midfield well. But Saka had him on toast. He does more than a job on the right but the left he’s just a body.

You can die on this hill if you want but no think it’s a stupid one to die on.

Now Rutter being Locadia 2.0 I can get behind.

Feel sorry for Jack, in a footballing sense.
He‘s not a left back and may not be overjoyed at getting pats on the head for doing his best in an unfamiliar role.
Hopefully he will very soon get a chance in a position that plays to his strengths. only then is it fair to judge him.
