Haven't watched Corrie since Stan Ogden died, but you'd think William Roache would want to enjoy his life before he pops his clogs - why would you still be turning up morning after morning at some dreary Manchester studio when you could be enjoying your retirement on the Costa Del Crime?

It was sad - but also i thought a very dignified departure that reflected the huge amount of respect that the writers/producer evidently had for both the character and the actor. And as has already been said - just a million times better than Eastenders could ever hope to be.
