I've recorded it to watch later. Corrie is my favourite soap as it has some great humour whilst tackling serious issues.

RIP Jack Duckworth. It won't be the same without him.

I was expecting more of a tearjerker actually. Peggy leaving Eastenders was sadder than that!

No.

Peggy leaving EastEnders (and I must admit I rarely watch it because I can't stand it) is a good thing, with the cliched scripts and chronic over-acting of Barbara Windsor making her role a total caricature.

Coronation Street is leagues ahead in terms of the actors' ability (alright, I might exclude Rita and her choice of two facial expressions) and the scriptwriters' skill at drawing genuine emotion out of a situation.

I don't really watch that either, but I do know it would have been sad to see Jack go, whereas there's not a single character ever left EE that I've actually given a toss about.

Edit: the other thing Corrie can do is humour- it can be genuinely funny at times. When EastEnders tries to be funny it's just embarrassing.

Very true...a few years ago they managed to have two funerals running concurrently in one show, one for Tommy and the other for Sean's dog...pure genius!

I thought the bit when he was with Vera at the end was very moving. Since she died, it was never the same for Jack. They were the soap's ultimate couple.

Every week that goes by, Sian seems to be getting fitter. She is stunning.

This. Corrie has been 100 times better than EE for a couple of decades now. Everything about it is superior.
