Another moderate country lurching to the right. Electorates getting panicky and starting to think the 1930s were a good idea. Oversimplification accepted - but the jolt in the 'west' the past few years is alarming.
or....... another nations sees little merit in a left leaning, woke, authoritarian government with little to offer save for soundbite rhetoric and empty promises.

Let’s see what happens in 5 years time. The US and the UK both went down this route and are both suffered heavily and both saw, and will see, a change at the next opportunity.

Let’s see how Trump fares in Nov 24 first. With the false mud being thrown at Biden, I’m not going get triumphant that the US is past its Alt Right obsession.

Those of us old enough realise it's all cyclic, although the accusation of "authoritarian" is a scatter gun accusation that both right and left have been accused of because of the pandemic. It doesn't define a political position, just how a particular administration acted.

The UK is clearly on its was back to the centre with the usual gnashing of teeth from the right and the left.

Indeed. Like all politicians and VAR refs she made mistakes, but her heart was always in the right place and I'm not sure you can say that about a lot of the so-called 'populist' alternatives around the world.

However if the road to hell is paved with good intentions so is the road to electoral defeat. She lost the farming vote apparently over some quite draconian legislation designed to combat climate change.

But so many posters on here thought she was the light and if only our gov had followed her lead we would now be in the land of milk and honey.
Makes me wonder whether we, the electorate, the people and the nsc political advocates, are the problem rather than the politicians who just can’t win
(struggling to defend any politicians in the westminster sewer but i think we get who we vote for in the end )
I thought her Covid plan was decisive and effective.....for a while. There was never any likelihood of milk and honey, none promised, and rather the opposite, a determination to pursue tough policies for the 'greater good'. Unlike our various twattish leaders she was honest and decisive. Ironically the electorate has decided that does want milk and honey, and immediately. We shall see how it transpires.
