Thats because the only vision we have is of Roberts punting the ball up to his head! Give the guy a chance with the ball on the deck and then we can judge him properly, until that happens yeah his control is crap.

disagree, i;ve seen him play many times with the ball at his feet and 80% of the time he's useless, looses it straight away or runs it out for a throw in.

People always assume big strikers are good in the air and it's not always the case! Big Chris hasn't played at his best yet but will do better if we play the ball on the ground more and put in decent crosses!

Iwelumo is pretty crap in the air for a big guy. I think he is a decent all round player though and his mere presence and power is enough to unsettle defenders.

We need him here.

sorry to disagree with the iwelumo supporters but he's a big donkey who occasionally pulls something magic out of the bag ie chesterfield and his run/penalty in the play off final.

Apart from that he hasn't imho done a hell of a lot of good apart from encourage aimless hoofing by our defence.

him and knight have not formed a good partnership. I would like a player with some pace and flair to partner knight

Can’t say that I can really recall seeing him have a good game.

In relation to the other interested clubs, there are different levels of interest and I would imagine it is just his agent using the speculation as a way of increasing wages etc. of the contract that Iwelumo will sign.

I wouldn’t mind seeing him stay, as he seemed to find the net fairly regularly with Stoke. Then again if he did leave I can’t see that it would be that bigger loss either.

As the 3rd striker to come on, or when a player is injured or suspended he's fine, sign him I say.
But a real pacey forward along side leon would be very nice.

well iv heard mcghee say that if we'd had him for a bit longer he thinks we would have go automatic promotion which tells you wat he thinks of chris

as for scoring regulary for stoke as iv already said on this thread he scored 7 goals in that div 1 season of which only 4 were in the league

can't believe what i'm reading here, he's scored some crucial goals for us and scares the cr@p out of defenders. he's the perfect foil for leon and their relationship can only get better from here on.

i know he's not the greatest player on earth but he's exactly the sort of battling player we'll need to survive in div 1. if you think that we'll suddenly be able to revert to playing flowing, passing football you'll have a shock next season i reckon. i know that mcghee has said that he'd ultimately like to play a less direct style, but in order to do that we'll need three or four quality players that we simply can't afford.

Those of you who say he can't use his feet should look out for the season's highlights at the Chesterfield game.

That shot was sublime.

as a back-up cant be a bad option, as did reasonably well for stoke in div 1 as a backup. he can come on and be awkward for other teams as we will probly play long ball next season

I agree that he'd be good to have as a back-up but not sure what sort of wages he'd be on. We shouldn't be spending what limited money we have on back-up players.

Mcghee says he wants 4 new players. These should be first team players, not squad players. If Chris is on a fair bit of cash, we should look elsewhere, spend a bit more, and have a quality 1st division striker to play with Leon. We have Chris Mcphee as back-up and also Jake hopefully

Just out of interest, which of Leon's various strike partners were most beneficial to him last season?
Did he score more frequently alongside Henderson, McPhee or big Chris?

Must admit I don`t rate him,and can`t see him causing defences a problem in "championship".

I cannot understand why he has so many critics. Until his arrival, we were lacking in something up front. His arrival conincided with our best form of the season.

I know a Stoke fan and he was very sorry to see him go.

Give him 2 years I say!
