Is it literally just a teaspoon of Bovril in a cup of boiling water, or are you supposed to add something else as well ?

Where do you get catering granules?

Bloody love Bovril but one of the worst things for gout, so that's out for me I'm afraid. If you could have another for me it would be much appreciated, just to ensure it's a similar experience could you try to drink it too early thus burning your tounge and lip and that feeling for about two days, ta!

As far as I know only places like Booker, Makro etc.

You can buy packs of 3 cups preloaded with granules from, ahem, Poundstretcher for £1.29 though.

Salt doesn't help but anything the raises your Uric levels does it; the worst additions are preservatives, coulorings, flavourings or yeast. That's why Chinese food is so bad for gout, the ol' MSG! Oh, and shellfish, mushrooms, asparagus, any offal, beer, wine, port, fizzy drinks, flavoured crisps, etc etc!

Hey ho, everything in moderation! Poor old sod that I am!

I feel your pain.
didn't know about Bovril however, oh well, just another of my favorite things to strike of the ever increasing list of things to avoid eating unless you are prepared for monumental pain.

Have you ever seen In Which We Serve - WWII Naval drama starring Noel Coward?

As the Destroyer he captains pulls out of Dunkirk he and his First Lieutenant are swigging Bovril and Sherry on the Bridge with the Army Officers they have just taken off the beaches - in wonderful cut glass accents of course - proper sang-froid stuff....:lolol:

Too far from the sun
Just seen this thread after finishing a nice hot mug of Bovril. The 'one teaspoon from the jar in a mug of boiling water' variety. No poncy granules here. I've warmed up nicely though I now have 3rd degree scalding on my tongue and the roof of my mouth as (per Tim over Whelmed) I tried drinking it while it was till far too hot.
