I was 17 and it was the days when fans were mixed. Chelsea had gone 1-0 and we were attacking. My Dad was on my left standing next to me. We all leaned forward to watch the equalise but because my Dad wasn't very tall he moved forward to see the goal.
Because we scored I flung my arms around what I thought was my Dad and kissed him ... except that it wasn't my Dad because he'd moved and I was hugging and kissing a Chelsea fan
I jumped back in shock and blushed.

My Dad thought it was hilarious (the bloke looked as though he was enjoying it even though we'd equalised) and he wouldn't let me forget it for quite a while.

Kept saying things like 'Don't throw yourself at any fellas today' etc:lol:

The only thing that ever came close was when I took my nine month pregnant second wife to an away match and she needed a pee at half time.
But all the toilets at the away end were mens and the cops wouldn't allow her to the other end of the ground to use the female loo.
When she threatened to take her knickers down and pee on the pitch a WPC kindly escorted into the away dressing room, past 16 semi clad players and into the dressing room toilets.
Apparently when she emerged the players cheered and asked each other which one was the father of the child!
Mildly amusing ... I peed myself when she got back to her seat and told me!
:lolol:

Received this....

Dear Dinno,
Thank you very much for your very kind words, i more than everyone have great memories of playing for Albion and playing at the the goldstone grounds and the great reception I got from the Brighton Supporters. I'm sorry, but I am unaware of the situation regarding a new stadium, if you could enlighten me and give me an email address of Mr John Prescott.

Well done, fat Boy!

One thing about Kit Napier when everybody is getting excited, when 17,000 in the Goldstone thought it was a free kick, he knew it wasn't. In the end the goal (against Chesterfield) was the difference between promotion and staying in the Third Division.

The Pat Saward sold him to Blackburn the following season! And that might have been the difference between staying up and then Albion got relegated.

Remember when he grew a beard and his hair and ended up looking like Peter Sutcliffe the Ripper, but still was a class striker ... Saward destroyed a great team when he sold Kit

We've got Willie Willie Irvine in our team !

He appeared on SCR and he seemed to think that (the late) Pat Saward thought that Barry Bridges was a better player. No way. Barry Bridges was all clever flicks and that was it. Like Paul Kitson Barry Bridges was but better (couldn't really be any worse).

Resurrected this thread after reading the Pyramid thread:

This was taken from a Peterborough Utd programme and brought back happy memories. I must admit I had forgotten that the Posh replaced Accrington Stanley!

Younger supporters may not realise that Peterborough United are relative newcomers to the Football League, replacing Accrington Stanley, a club with a claim to fame as the only one of the original members of the League to go out of business.
One of the memorable matches was debut of Kit Napier for the visit of Peterborough to Albion who were 22nd in the old Division 3 in 1966-67 and the lowest crowd of the season of 8,598 saw Kit Napier score twice on his debut in a 5-2 victory. Altogether Kit Napier has scored 4 goals against the Posh and his defender namesake John Napier netted twice.

Anymore memories of the legend ....
