Got pre-tournament odds of 14/1 though they were 16s. And what a stark contrast they are to the dire england last night.

I know it's a bit early, but how can year after year we get it soo wrong and year after year germany get it right. There is obviously something deep rooted to grass roots level in england.

Sure we haven't seen all the teams yet but can't see england doing anything once again.

Statistics don't lie. Look at englands record since 66 they've finished behind germany everytime.

You're forgetting when Bucks Fizz won it though with 'making your mind up'

Money down the drain. Australia are crap AND were down to ten men, USA are not crap, you can't compare England and Germany's performances in any way. England can still go all the way, COME ON ENGLAND

Aussies are shocking. The germans did look good to be fair to them though.

Qtr Finals for them at best, earlier if we come up against them

I've been saying for a while that Australia aren't as good as people in the UK think, but they were awful last night - an embarrassment. They'll now replace Cahill with Josh Kennedy who scored ONE goal all season in the Bundeslega. They won't score a goal this tournament.

Fair play to Germany, they comprehensively beat what was in front of them but it's not a yard stick for winning the World Cup

In their last practice match, they got crushed by the Americans, 3-1. The Australians are particularly crap at the back, by the looks of it.

Germany looked very good last night. But then its easy to look good when you're playing against a team that does't bother tracking runners in behind them, and doesn't seem bothered about challenging anyone in possession until they are bearing down on the back 4. Even the shit teams at least TRY to make it difficult to break them down. The aussies just waved them through.

Germany will win it in memory of Robert Enke. That will drive them on even more and if England don't lift the World Cup, i wouldn't mind seeing the Germans do it. It's brought their players even closer together after his sad death.
