Just our luck that he gets suspended a few days before Brentford play Spurs.
£50,000? Poor guy. I’m tempted to start a gofundme for him.
Severe that, can't wait to see what City get
Should've been more IMOIvan Toney has been suspended from all football and football-related activity with immediate effect for eight months, which runs up to and including 16 January 2024, fined £50,000 and warned as to his future conduct for breaches of The FA’s Betting Rules.
The Brentford FC forward was charged with 262 breaches of FA Rule E8 in total between 25 February 2017 and 23 January 2021. The FA subsequently withdrew 30 of these breaches and he admitted to the remaining 232.
His sanctions were subsequently imposed by an independent Regulatory Commission following a personal hearing. He is permitted to return to training only with his club for the final four months of his suspension starting from 17 September 2023.
The independent Regulatory Commission’s written reasons for these sanctions will be published in due course, and The FA will wait to review them before commenting further.
Given he would have scored goals that will have affected the relegation spots and less so the title now, I don't see how they could do it this season. They have waited this long, why not wait until the end of the season.
If it had to take so long to sort why not wait until Monday week when the season is over before the ban started!! Really comes across incompetent, at the best!Being cynical but the timing seems a bit suspect. Just before they play Spurs
ThisLol. Nicely timed so he plays on a couple of pointless games from Brentford's POV and all of the off season.
Should have been announced from Aug.
Less than half a Jakub Moder absence through no fault of his own8 months means he misses half of next season. That's quite a significant punishment IMO.
