If players are allowed to do that, it'll become a tactic.

Quick! Nick a bit of the refs foam and draw a line over there!

Silly old bat
I don’t see anything wrong with it. Is it against the laws of the game ? Regardless, not his fault the defender jumps out of the way. Toney is a brilliant player and showed it in that game.
Yes, the referee has marked where the ball is so the free kick is taken there, and the wall marked 10 yards away.

It’s clever gamesmanship. One of those if one of your team do it it’s cool. One of theirs and they’re an instant cheating shithouse.

Suspect a law change to enable VAR to look for such offences as a reason to not award future similar goals. Resulting in yellow card (unsportsmanlike conduct) and a retaken free kick.
Yep, that thread about the biggest ‘shithouse’ player in our team springs to mind. Didn’t everyone laugh about Joel Veltman….

The whole charade of a direct freekick normally lasts a good 1-2 minutes to complete. The initial blow of the whistle, the indication from the ref that it is under his control, the drawing of the foam, the positioning of the wall, the final blow to go .....f***ing yawn. If some chancer can just shift the ball when Dazza's not looking, then with all due respect, what's the point?

Shambles.

Moving the ball a little bit away from the ref’s mark, and hoping to get away with it - pushing the boundaries / gamesmanship.

Moving the ref’s foam, to change the position that the ref has decreed - not for me. Cheating, pure and simple.
