I like that one. I still see us as a seaside town that has hit the big time. But we are still little old Brighton as far as I'm concerned. I like it because it winds up those who are high on their glory quest.

I like being a small club who piss the 'big' ones off.

And long may it continue. Beating a few of the so called BIG clubs who rolled up at Withdean back in the day, all expecting an easy ride, then they looked at the athletics track, and the bobbly pitch, and suddenly didn't fancy it at all. How l loved that!

Yet there are some of our fans on twitter and FB and here that think we shouldn't have been nice, shouldnt have clapped them off, shouldn't have played the music they were all jumping around to at the end and having a great day to , shouldn't have sorted the card display.

I for one think its great that whislt we are becoming a big club in the eyes of the lower divisions, we still very much treating those clubs with respect and are not being all "Billy Big Bollocks" about our current position

One eye opener for me , and it brought home how succesful we are now seen to be by some, is their players wanting to swap shirts with ours, and then soaking up the occasion.

It quite simply was their "cup final" , they all knew they weren't winning in a month of sundays but that didnt matter, they were here at Brighton and that was the biggest game in the clubs recent and medium term history- and quite possibly the biggest game a lot of those players are likley to play in.

What a testament to our club, our fans, our city that desite a 5-0 battering, they and their fans have gone away with nothing but good memories of their great cup run, and a fantastaic occasion at the Amex.

I've never understood this unwritten rule that football fans of one club should be hostile to those of another. Surely we all have the same thing in common - a love of football ? By all means some banter, leg pulling etc but hostility ..... nope. Glad the Grimsby fans enjoyed their day out - exactly as it should be ( I'll exclude the drunk father and son act at the foot of the steps for the Mill Road P&R though - not such lovely individuals ).

That was sung by both sets of fans simultaneously at each other. And to my ears, sitting on the half way line, was started by the Grimsby end. Also i took it as just banter towards each end, rather than any malice.

Deary me! Really?! That's the whole point of football chants, taking the piss out of the opposition. I don't go to get pally with away fans. This is the attitude of our fans that contributes to why our home atmosphere is so shit at times! Boils my piss.

Funny too as in one of the quotes, they say we were making stripes rather than a Seagull! :lolol:

Yesterday was exactly as I thought and hoped it would be. A comfortable win and a good vibe at the game. There are games when you want the intensity and a bit of an edge but yesterday was never about that. I had a great day and my young lads thought their fans were great. Being young enough to have only watched us in the PL, it was a good experience for them watching a lower league team and a great set of fans who the game obviously meant a lot to.
