I have had to delete nearly all my apps on my iPad to get IOS 8. (It wanted over 6 gig) but I am sure it will be worth it.

Only 16gb. It wanted 6 gig for a 1.3 gig update. The world has gone mad

Nasty, sneaky Apple. It's the same for me. They want you to upgrade your storage space to 20GB. Granted, it's only 79p a month for it but think of all the millions of people who are likely to do that rather than delete all their apps.

I think they are getting greedy. I don't like that. It's cynical.

No, no they don't.

The upgrade file, as delivered, is c1-1.5gb (varies by device), but the install process needs space to work in which is why c6gb is required. That won't be required by the OS once installed.

You could have the 1tb iCloud package but it would make no difference to this - your would still need c6gb free on the device itself to get through the install process.
