And if so - this is what will do for Poyet's reputation. Not just from those who had an axe to grind anyway - but from supporters who loved Gus and the football we played. If it turns out he did not do the best for the club in its most important game for the last twenty years - and his own interests were more important .............. well ...........

Yes, this has been my chief concern about this whole sorry affair from about 2 days after the Semi Final 2nd leg. IF it's the case, I'll find it hard to forgive.

The club didn't finish their investigation into his alleged breach of contract until last Thursday. That is the reason it has taken so long. You can't seriously blame gus for wanting time to go through a 500 page document (yes, some of it might be copies of documents he has, but how many people know their contracts off by heart and would know the exact wording of each clause that they are accused of breaching, and whether there are other clauses that provide exception to other clauses? It would all need to be gone through) and to have, as is his right, a legal representative who quite fairly isn't available at the drop of a hat and had advised the club of his available date that was in keeping with the club's policy.

To put the blame for the time taken with this on gus, when 80% of the delay is the club's process, and the other 20% is about fair process for the accused as set out in the club's policy is a little unfair.

I don't begrudge him the extra time to prepare, although as you suggest I suspect that there is nothing new in that 500 page appendix. Also The nature of the allegations against him should've been clearly set out in the letter advising him of his suspension and in the terms of reference for the investigation. My concern is what happens from here-on-in. Poyet and his lawyers will fully understand the significance of delaying this process as much as they can because it ramps up the pressure on the club.

Someone asked about attendees, well I would expect Rose Read (club's head of hr) possibly Paul Barber, and likely another director or two (depending on if Barber is involved) would form the panel. Likely the club solicitors will be there.

The attendance of barber will be driven as to how involved he is the the causes of breaches that were investigated. As I said previously, he can't be a complainant witness and on the panel (or would be like blackadder and general melchett in the Flanders pigeon murderer scene).

Poyet likely reprsented by Richard Bevan(lma) and a solicitor.

So, Gully won't be there?

If it ever came out that he didnt try to win the match then...... But as was said, if he was trying to throw it, putting Ashley Barnes on and making him have those two chances in a minute saved was a master stroke.

You wonder now, just how much the club hoped (either then or with hindsight now) that Gus had gone to reading?

I don't think the fans have turned against gus in any great number. I think the majority who haven't turned yet are waiting to see what happens before jumping on him, but there is a vocal minority who are making the most noise at the moment, with many of them (thou not all) having been itching to have a reason to criticise him for a while.

In truth the majority of us support BHAFC, the relationship with Gus probably runs a bit deeper than some, he led us to great highs. I just want to see an end to it, for both sides to move on with dignity. It's not good when something you have great loyalty and affection for is dragged through the gutter, UTA!

It was in the argus, and covered on here, where I highlighted it was "the argus understands" so might not be true, only to be told it was journalistic code for "someone at the club has told us"

I replied a little further on explaining how with this case, so many different things are leaking out, with different 'high level, inscrutable sources' saying contradictory things, that just having someone at the club telling you doesn't make it true.


Edit: and this should really be a sign to everyone on here who have high placed sources, that they (the sources) might not actually know the real, whole truth.

but i thought all their sources were reliable and so high up and involved that they couldn't be faulted? Its dangerous ground to questions someones source here :smile:

Yes and typically he would have something like 21 days to decide whether or not to appeal - will depend on the wording of the clubs disciplinary procedure

If Gus goes, as seems inevitable, we'll never really know for sure how he would have got on this season. My feeling is that he's not a manager who will thrive under FFP, wherever he goes - at least at this level and slightly above.

i'm not convinced, he signed quite a few players on frees, low cost and got the best out of them

I don't think the charge would be that he did not try to win the match, more than the team was not at its mental peak to do so. Had anyone suggested that after the first game (when I thought we were superb) I would have laughed in their face. After the home game it was not so laughable. I certainly do not want it to be like that. I want to keep my fond memories of the good times.

My HR may be a bit rusty but written warnings are starting point, he may or may not have these. Gross misconduct can lead to instant dismissal. Both these leave the employee with a right to appeal. An agreement to terminate a contract which is mutually agreed with both parties removes the right to appeal unless undue influence was placed on one party. So, my guess club will go for termination of contract - mutually agreed. Can this happen in one meeting - perhaps and it is feasible the legal dotting of i's and crossing of t's can be carried out subsequent to meeting.

Tony will meet with Gus' agent and they'll get the deal done. Hopefully. Sad to see him go, but the situation is clearly beyond repair now. New manager announced tomorrow and we'll all be feeling excited again.

Absolutely correct although my concern is that the pre-hearing posturing by both parties and the apparent total breakdown of the employment relationship may make any kind of mutual agreement difficult to achieve, at least today.
