Sorry. That was a reply to Portlock seagull. Post 39
Bert Murray was moved to RB freeing up Kit Napier to be our No 7. It all worked well and Kit scored the winner in the very next game against Villa. Always overlooked because of Wilie Irvine's wonder goal earlier.Memories eh! I thought Ken Beamish had replaced Kit, I forgot that Kit had moved sideways.
I posted something on here about CKR being a bit lazy and received a really abusive PM from his father/stepfather (?). I apologised and said I would not have posted it if I thought it would be read by his family. We became almost internet mates after that as he apologised to me about his rant. We then exchanged a few interesting PMs until CKR moved on.
Real shame you got abuse as it was pretty bloody exciting when you ”won” him
I don't imagine any of the modern fans will ever understand the buzz of us literally winning a striker with bottle of coca cola. Incredible momentI posted something on here about CKR being a bit lazy and received a really abusive PM from his father/stepfather (?). I apologised and said I would not have posted it if I thought it would be read by his family. We became almost internet mates after that as he apologised to me about his rant. Assuming you were the competition winner? What I thought was ‘strange’ is that I got approx 40 instances of what I can only describe as hate mail (or similar type communications) from Albion fans when the CKR signing started going south.
Cos it was obviously my fault right!?
DK phoned me up at about 1030pm on the night CKR left to explain why we sold him, but my overriding emotion was genuine relief.
What did he say?I once messaged Mark Lawrenson on Twitter (back in the days when he predicted the PL results). I asked him to please keep predicting defeats for the Albion as it seemed to be helping us win games. I didn't expect him to reply but he did!
And now he's on NSC.Wasn't it Gary Chivers who was interviewed after a cup defeat (away at Swindon?) who thought it was a League match ? He kept referring to the points we had lost. Shows that not all footballers are clued up .
Bumping into O Gary Hart at Alton Towers was unaticipated.Bumping into Stuart Storer in Berlin was a bit random.
Maybe they had one of their 40% off deals that day? When Dale Stephens first signed for the Albion, we were sat on a table next to him & his family, at the Harvester down at the Marina.
Random place for a footballer to go out to eat we thought.
Disappointingly, I can't remember exactly. It was something pretty anodyne anyway. On the other hand, Gary Stevens once answered me on Twitter and commented on my profile picture. It was a team photo of the Albion players from about 1982. He said he remembered it being taken and it brought back a lot of happy memories for him. We had a bit of back and forth and he seemed like a really nice bloke. What did he say?
Lawro's ex-wife. Her sister married the Engineering Mgr of our factory in Blackpool. The same ex then became the partner of the son of my dad's boss.Definitely Maybank. I was only 17 or 18 and fancied Lawro's ex-wife big time!
