I remember that night, 2 carloads of 18 year olds down from Crowborough in the North Stand. What a night, thought we'd snapped up a really good striker !! Then up all night watching the TV.

I was there too. Micky Quinn usually scored loads against Brighton. I remember them coming down, might of been for an evening kick off again, and they wore yellow and green stripes. Quinn got some serious abuse that night about his past and scored a hatrick in a 3-0 win.

One of very few games I watched from the West Stand. Can still remember thinking "we have a star on our hands here!". How wrong I was

I was in the North Stand, I had forgotten it was Burridge in Goal for the Geordies, makes it just a little sweeter still. I hated that poser.

I was there.

The incredible thing was that the fences were still up in the North Stand, 21 months after Hillsborough.

They were, but there were always two gates open at the front, I recall. I was in the North Stand that night - in the position I took up most games until they knocked it down - three-quarters of the way up the Eastern pen, just to the side of the steps. Lovely stuff.

I remember him giving us two fingers in front of the north stand when he scored a penalty for Pompey. I was fairly cross.

I think this was the game that saw the Newcastle manager, cant remember who it was, fired, and Keegan got the gig, and the rest, as they say, is history
