27 years ago today...

The FA Cup final.

Great memories of a wonderful day. Lewes Road was awash with blue and white.

Happy, happy days...

Sure does Dave.

I would love to get to a cup final again...

I always remember that day as the pinnacle of my football supporting/following day. Nothing has come close. World Wide audience of millions, helicopters bringing the players to wembley, thousands of fans on trains, planes, automobiles, banners, singing my heart out to Abide With Me, the sheer excitement of the place walking in packed full of fans in both blue and white and red and white...smith fist goal...absulote euphoria, despair after Wilkins chip and then Steven's equaliser......just marvellous.

BTW I thoroughly recommend you Book of Dave:thumbsup:

Sorry, I missed the Newcastle replay. Wasn't the ref a Brighton fan at that game? :p

Me too!

We could start a VERY exclusive club?

after the game we were walking back to the busses to get the train and this huge skin head grabbed hold of my shoulder and dragged me backwards...I thought " This is it, I am going to die" and he said in a very thick Geordie accent...something like " well done , I hate them toon bastards, I am a mackem"

he then walked with us to make sure we got on the bus ok as the Geordies were out for a dustup.

At the station one lad came up to me whist I was having a piss and asked me if I was a Brighton fan...I put on my strongest Yorkshire accent and told him I was a toon fan from York and got away with that one too.

apart from the result it was a horrible evening I recall

It was a great day.It was darned hard to get a ticket, but there were 20 or so Germans in front of me at Wembley.Got some sort of package from their home country and had come because it was the Cup Final; THE Cup Final. But I wondered what any Albion fan without a ticket would have thought.

Sorry, couldn't make the Newcastle away, and in any case, having told my Dad after the first game that neither team would be going up Wembley Way it seemed a trip too far.

Now,where's my World Cup Predictor sheet ?..............

Oh,unless going by helicopter meant they didn't go up Wembley Way in the recognised manner.
