Marginally more attacking than you might have expected thus far (19 mins).

De Gea's already made a great save from Pelle. Very wet pitch from a late downpour just before kick off.

A penalty shoot out would be good in this one.

I foresee lots of earnest praying and looking to the skies, as though God is going to favour one staunchly Roman Catholic country over another in a competition to decide who can kick a football into a net from twelve yards.

Chiellini scores for Italy. Great pizza work by the big man.

Italians looking really good so far.
De Gea has kept Spain in it with a couple of good saves.

I think all players are shit at Sunderland, to be fair, apart from in the final eight weeks of any given season.

The theatrical rolling around of many players- on both sides- right now is starting to gave the feel of a particularly tragic operatic scene.

Danny Murphy is getting on my tits. As dull as ****

Could be worse. The England game is on ITV later, which means we'll probably get to enjoy the talents of Tyldesley & some other village idiot.

Scratch my last.

Murphy just described "a good header" from Sergio Ramos. Which was approximately eight feet wide of the target.

Brighton / Hove actually
Scratch my last.

Murphy just described "a good header" from Sergio Ramos. Which was approximately eight feet wide of the target.

Earlier one of the Spanish players jumped for the ball and landed awkwardly on his back. And Murphy goes "Oh get up man, your one nil down and your messing about". Only for a minute later to retract his statement. He is a right dullard who has done the game no justice.

Italy looked very strong and totally worked Spain out there. Got to be favourites now.
