Gotta get out of town pronto.
Don't want to be there when the Scotchland rugby fans arrive.

I was going all the way by train both ways and it looks like it is completely screwed coming back :(
I've just taken advantage of the fact that the Nightjet sleeper to Munich is a guaranteed service on strike days to book that route out of Rome on Friday evening, then Munich-Mannheim-Paris Est on the Saturday to catch the 19:39 Eurostar. It cost a bit on top of my interrail pass to reserve a bunk (but probably no more than my hotel for a stopover in Zurich is going to cost on the way out!) but it's given me peace of mind vs guessing what daytime trains might be running.

Obviously this information is no use if you've already booked trains and accommodation for Friday and Saturday, but I mention it in case it helps anyone.

I thought fascists were supposed to make the trains run on time?
I know this isn't entirely serious, but it's my life's work to counter this whenever and wherever I see it.
It's a myth that Mussolini made the trains run on time. To the extent that reliability improved after he came to power this was due to improvements put in place beforehand.
Anyway. Erm... yeah I have no expectations of getting a ticket for this one anyway.

They do; cruising speed of a typical jet is between 500 and 600 mph.
Come on now everyone knows aircraft do not fly in mph, international code dictate airspeed is measured in knots.

Pretty cheeky that train companies have been selling return tickets for that day !!
I thought that, but then, it’s a
If you are looking at Italo train website there is a warning at top of 8th March page.
really, where’s that then? I didn’t see it when I booked mine, and I can’t see it now either.

We are all focussed on trains, but also hoping if "General Strike" it doesn't affect airports too- baggage handling/check in/cleaners etc! The Italian Ministry website in Bozza's post above mentions "air".

Thanks to all those that have provided the detail on the proposed strike on Friday 8th.

As a result I have booked seats on the express service from Termini to Fiumicino Airport, as this is one of the guaranteed services to run (or replacement bus)
I'm nor]t sure if the slower airport services still run, if not, there are far fewer trains running to the airport, so would suggest getting booked on one, even of it means a far longer wait at the airport.
