think you'll find that the ref was telling the Wednesday player to move the ball back for the free kick from which the goal eventually came..........but the kicker took it anyway....

I have to agree with OP.
Everything about his body and the way he takes it says to me that he is aiming to put it in front of a striker at the back post.
The angle and pace the ball is coming at, it's one of those you naturally look to swing on, if he had wanted to shoot he wouldn't have aimed far post with an out-swinging shot from that position.
Still a great goal, but I am convinced he was swinging it in rather than shooting.
