My God, is it THAT long ago.

I remember being at that game. Settled with a youthful Ryan Giggs free kick half way through the second half if I recall right

Yup remember it well and Old Trafford was in the process of redevelopement and the Stretford end was roofless? ...............i think:shrug:

4 houses, 1 wife and two kids ago.

Remember the game well, wore my 'Johnny Crumplin, Football Genius' T-Shirt, all the Manure fans kept going, who is a "Football Genius"?

They had Giggs we had JC, shows the gulf in class a little.

I remember the young giggs giving our defence the run around and at one point in the second half our centre half, forget who it was, applauded a particularly fine piece of skill; never seen that before or since

Same wife, Same job but 3 stone heavier.

Remember being disappointed at the ground when we found out Cantona wasn't playing.
Andy Kennedy was our main threat
and Fergie was under serious pressure for his job.
can you imagine the Albion keeping a manager like that?

One hugely expensive divorce since then !
Us older ones were obviously spoilt in the 80's and early 90's ( and yes I know it helps to enter at the 3rd round stage )
1980.....4th rnd...lost to Arsenal 2-0 ( Who were finalists )
1981.....3rd rnd...lost to Man.Utd 2-0 at home ( replay, after leading 2-0 at Old Trafford, pegged back to 2-2 )
1982......4th rnd...lost at home to Oxford 3-0 ( two divisions below us ! )
1983.....Final...you all know the story.
1984.....5th rnd...lost 3-1 at Watford ( finalists ) having knocked out Liverpool for 2nd successive year.
1985.....4th rnd...lost 2-1 at Barnsley
1986.....6th rnd ( Qtr final )...lost 2-0 at home to Southampton ( biggest anti-climax of all...25,000 at Goldstone...team didn't perform )
1987.....3rd rnd...lost 2-1 to Sheff.Utd ( replay )
1988.....4th rnd...lost 2-1 at home to Arsenal ( 26,500 ) after starting in rnd 1
1989.....3rd rnd lost to Leeds 2-1
1990.....4th rnd lost to Oldham 2-1
1991.....4th rnd lost 3-2 home to Liverpool, after famous 2-2 draw at Anfield.
1992.....4th rnd lost 2-1 to Bolton.
1993.....4th rnd lost 1-0 to Man.Utd
Eleven times in 14 seasons we reached the 4th round or better.

I had just started going out with a new girlfriend. She came with me to the 3rd round match (a clincher for me, there was no way I was going to let her go after that).

I didn't go to the 4th round tie but I remember being in North Laine shopping and hearing the commentary on the radio. I was excited because we were still drawing with only about 15 minutes to go ... and while we were in the shop, Giggs scored.

Now, 17 years later. I own my own home - although have less disposable income. I have two kids with a new partner and am about 10kg heavier.
