If you want to protect my family from attacks by Afghan shepherds in Brighton, Join the Army, they are keeping them busy in Afghanistan in Americas war with the Taliban. Good job. Along with my family, im grateful.
If you want to travel, eat, drink and shag women of many nationalities across the world join the Navy.
Found it an easy choice.

Last time I looked the Taleban & Al Quaida weren't doing much maritime warfare.
Still, these 6th formers on here who've done f*** all will know better.

In fairness its the only thing we still do excel at in that field. VT for example are building vessels for others too.

The Italians have a fantastic shipbuilding industry still. Shows it can be done at European costs. Yet another example of Britain just ditching industries when it gets a bit tough. It will be financial services one day.........

VT don't build ships any more they sold out to BAE Systems who are the only builder of Warships/Submarines left in the UK (except for maybe a few plastic boats)

hire sergei's celebration, the word is hire, kin percy pongo lover :dunce:

It's funny, all those mk4 sea kings that are making guest appearance on the newsflying the troops around must be a figment of my deranged imagination.
Navy has been flying royal around for years, and if royal is in country then so will be the fleet air arm, granted jack won't be on patrol because he has too much sense, but they do enjoy the occasional mortering to relieve the bordom.
Jack is in country because with a range of a couple hours the old mk4 would crash somewhere in Pakinstan if trying to operate from sea!
This might explain why I spent more time playing at soldiers than at being a sailor!

Haven't we also got the worlds most powerful sub that can even detect a boat leaving harbour on the other side of the world with its super powerful sonar stuff. Flipping huge thing due in service anytime now if my memory seves me as well as the navy has served us for many many years. Maybe it's top secret & nobody but me & top brass knows about this. Shit that means I'll have to kill you all!

We haven`y had a navy since the days of Nelson... have we ?

Which brings me to the story that Spike Milligan told when he went to visit the 'Victory' and saw the plaque on the floor that read, ''Nelson fell here'' to which he replied, ''I`m not surprised, I nearly tripped over the bloody thing''

Haha, good healthy banter is what I like to see! Unfortunately we're all cogs in one big war machine nowdays, everyones got a part to play.... we share flags, bases and equipment. They will probably merge us all in the future to cut costs me thinks.

But until then........ we've got the best coastal defence force in the WORLD!!!!!
