I'd like to think that was the case but they haven't jumped ship yet and how bad does the publicity have to get.

Right now they'd be jumping ship into an ocean. If UEFA left, they'd be able to jump from one ship to another ship. It's simple really, if UEFA left, both organisations would receive sponsorship money, neither as high as it is now. But if UEFA did it and did it properly, all the good footballing countries would join soon enough, meaning less money for those that didn't join, and all those smaller countries would get paid more if they joined some time later.

I still think the broadcasters would go with what they thought was the best tournament which, if the main european teams are in plus Brazil, Argentina, USA and Australia, would be the Uefa tournament.

Again, broadcasters would obviously broadcast both tournaments. The money would end up with the breakaway group though.

Platini voted for Qatar in 2022 - I want to know why?

Well Qatar bought PSG and made people remember France actually compete in the Champions League. And Platini's son work's for a big Qatar company. And Platini met with the French president, and Qatar have given the contracts for extracting oil to French companies. But I have no idea why Platini voted for Qatar.

I disagree, I think every country should automatically be invited, as a matter of course. This isn't supposed to be a select group, it's supposed to be world football, but with transparency and without the corruption.

Not necessarily. If you have the main countries on board, France, Germany, Italy, Holland, Belgium, England, Spain and Portugal then plenty of minor countries will follow. Probably not Russia and some of their 'subordinates' but then they will be marginalised because their tournament in 2018 will be missing key European teams. If the likes of Brazil and Argentina were persuaded to join then that could make the new Euro tournament snowball. Likely that USA and Australia would also join in. Sponsors of Fifa would be torn but which tournament do you think the TV companies would want to broadcast? We may see an African country win the world cup but it would be an empty win.

That said, I'm not convinced Platini is whiter than white and doubt he is seriously considering withdrawing Uefa from Fifa.

The thing is Platini has put head on the block, so to speak, and we will know within the next few days whether he has the balls to carry this out. Or, will it be a case of wave the white flag, do a Gallic shrug of the shoulders and say that Blatter is just misunderstood. I fear it will be the latter.

Unfortunately the first paragraph might - might - lead some to believe that we wont get the highlighted quote with uefa running things either. Not me though. I fully believe that Platini and all those connected with uefa and european f.a's are whiter than white paragons of honesty and virtue.

Well indeed, I'm not convinced it would be better. But it would struggle to be worse, and Platini is just one person. And if FIFA ends because people are fed up with the corruption, that would be a huge warning to UEFA should they wish to follow the same path.
