Isn't it time to recognize Nigel Adkins as one of few new great English managers?

Adkins or Gus

The results of this poll are looking very

A month ago 81% percent of people on here thought Gus was better than Adkins. I think it's this that the Southampton fans are having a dig at.

And quite rightly too.

Fans in sticking up for their own manager shocker.

Adkins is proving to be a brilliant manager. Of course I'd still choose Poyet over him because the transformation in BHAFC since he joined has been incredible. Yes we're in a difficult patch of form at the moment (although mid table in the Championship is a brilliant achievement), but it's no time to be doubting him.

So in 5 years Gus has to gain 3, maybe 4 promotions or equivalent, he'll get sacked or walk away from Brighton this season, then he won't get a great job as he's just not a very good manager, just because he was a good player, is foreign and got you promoted doesn't mean he'll get a top job. You lot really are clowns

Quit talking out of your arse about 'us lot' tosser, most people have praised Adkins on the thread, as I have, and you focus on insults and disdain.
Wanker.

Gus Poyet has got greater football perception than Nigel Adkins and this will show in the long term. Gus also thinks about the game more and as somebody said, the Southampton back room squad must be good. Adkins is your executive type. He likes to be the boss. This means certain players (like Billy Sharp) will not sign for him and there will be falling outs.

Still Southampton might very well come second (again) this season as they have some good players and the rest of the clubs haven't got so many.

Players didnt sign for us because we were 14/1 for the title (like you were) in August. We werent considered a contender then. Lets see who wants to sign for us in January.

How any Brighton fan can put up such a thread after his smug smile following the non-penalty for 2-0 yesterday is beyond comprehension!

While we had zero shots on goal?
And they are winning match after match to a point lead at the top? We'd love to be smiling smugly.
You make your own luck in football - and we weren't going to get any types of penalties on Saturday were we?

What an ill-informed pile of toss. Well Done!

I've not bothered reading the thread so I don't know what the general consensus is but in my opinion as a manager he's clearly done well and knows how to get the best out of a group of players, but as a person I'm definitely not a fan

"Adkins is your executive type", admit it, you're basing that purely on the fact he wears rimless glasses.

"Gus thinks about the game more", totally baseless assertion. Adkins spent years at university studying various football and psychology related subjects. He's one of the most intelligent, well qualified managers in football. There are very few who think about the game more than him.

"The Southampton back room squad must be good", I've heard it all now. You don't take a team from 21st in League One to top of the Championship within a year by having good back room staff. Just admit it, Nigel is a very, very good manager.
