Islam and the UK - can it ever work?

Thats just it though, this thread on its own shows that Islam & the UK aren't compatible. Everyone knows that it is just a minority of Islamic people that are extremists, terrorists etc etc. but as in every walk of life it is the minority that f*** it up for the majority.

Only if you breach all rules of natural justice and blame the actions of the majority on the tiny minority. Luckily, this is still a land of fairminded people who don't do that and we remain a successful multicultural nation.

Anyone who follows a faith and tolerates non believers is good.

Anyone who follows a faith and doesn't tolerate non believers is bad.

Do you think then, that at the present time we are a successful multicultural nation? I dont. Since 9/11 we have been moving away from this "successful multicultural nation" and this movement was dramatically increased by the London bombings. Because of those two mindless acts of terrorism there will always be a segment of the population who will continually oppose the Muslim community. Likewise there will always be a segment of the Muslim population who refuse to condemn and even support those atrocities (sp?). While these 2 groups of people exist (and they always will) it wil be impossible for the rest of the civilised, if you want to call them that, human beings regardless of race & religion to live in peace with eachother.

What the hell are you on about? When has this happened in any of these countries, and (here you are being especially ridiculous) when has it happened "to a lesser extent in London"?

Suicide bombers have targeted either military or civilian targets in countries they want to attack, but when the hell have they ever blown up a crowd of their own sympathisers (and actually liaised with police beforehand to say when and where they would be as with this demonstration)?

I think if you look through history different ethnic groups have taken their turn at being the cause celeb of the more right wing element of society. The Irish took a battering until West Indians started arriving, then sub contiental asian immigrants, asian boat people, Eatern European then Muslims.

I think casual racism has reduced through the years amongst the population as a whole. On the other hand extreme Fundamendalist Islam is sectarian in itself.
