Right, but the reason people were disillusioned was because of the existing situation at the time, which is why those who voted Brexit for reasons of controlling immigration did so in the first place. They were duped, of course, but they were voting for an option which appeared to address their situation more than the alternatives.

As we’ve seen - using your Brexit example - and I’ll add to that the then-rise of UKIP - people will vote for a party who is at least pretending to listen to them.

If a party outright ignores a very large, but quiet number of people - people living ordinary lives in unglamorous places, who aren’t protesting or ranting and raving on social media - they are doomed to fail. Because these people have a vote too. And when ignored go to dangerous extremes - like Brexit, UKIP or worse.

Taking Corbyn’s campaign, and an overall complacent attitude generally starting from Brown (remember “ignorant woman”?) - it’s easy to get lazy right from the seat of power to erm, here, so whack everyone who thinks differently in the same bracket.
Yep. Labour lost touch with what is needed to capture the enthusiasm of the electorate. After 3 terms in office this is almost unavoidable, because to change anything is feared to be disruptive.

But disruptive technology (ideas) is how we move ahead.

However, when Call Me Dave came up with the disruptive Brexit referendum wheeze he did not expect 'leave' to win. So we moved on, and disruptive change, wot the pipple wanted, arrived.

I was vehemently remain, but predicted that leave would win. That was the way it was. I also predicted Trump would win. I then blew it all by predicting Jezza would win. Only two out of three things I never wanted coming to pass was little comfort. Johnson, in fact, was more disruptive than Jezza would ever have been, as it happens, so maybe my instincts were correct.

My point is that complacent labour under Brown and the Wallace was a bit sad, but anyone who thought that the subsequent tory misadventure saved us from fudge and mudge needs a lobotomy. Or, more likely, had one many years ago.

Absolutely.

I’m simply taking the piss out of her looks. She was an ugly **** and I was just laughing at that. And inviting others to laugh at the ugly woman.

I’m neither proud nor apologetic of the notion 👍
Not sure I approve. I'm, happy for her deeds to speak for her.

And let us not forget. Some Brits were so preoccupied with Hitler's silly haircut they failed to notice the annexation of the sudetenland and the start of the Holocaust.

So, to sum up your position, you learned there are some bad internet influencers out there from an internet influencer. You’ve protected your kids, but not really, by banning but not banning certain accounts because preventing access to them is somehow different, but it’s all ok because they’re out doing manly sports stuff all the time.

No what I learned is there are weird arse people in positions as teachers.

These people need monitoring to ensure their ideologies aren't pushed onto other people's children.

Last time I checked education is something people will vote on as an issue.

Will not be long till ugly baiting qualifies for hate crime status, they are a minority you know. Well, depending on where we all live perhaps!

If you want to know what a facist is then ask one. If you wanted to know what a jew is you wouldn't ask a muslim you would ask a jew and visa versa, your whole approach is misconceived.

They are non-consensual derogatory labels, very comparable.

I'm not sure I follow. Are you saying if someone doesn't self-identify as a fascist, they cannot be one?

The bad press fascism got during the 20th century means most of them are fairly circumspect these days. Those in the mainstream anyway.

Also, to clarify, I was suggesting that Trump's politics displays some of the features of fascism rather than outright saying he's a fascist. As with anything, it's not black and white but a spectrum of ideas and beliefs. You'd struggle to find one clear definition of what a fascist is anyway.

As someone who works in educashun, this is pretty new to me, but in a profession that has over 600,000 members there are bound to be some who go off piste.

I presume you are referring to the likes of Katharine Birbalsingh?

Woke is bad:

"40% of people aged between 18 and 24 say that they struggle to fall asleep quickly. 33% of UK citizens above 55 years old say that they struggle to fall asleep fast. 51% of individuals aged between 18 and29 reported getting at least 8 hours of sleep. 36% of the adults in the UK struggle to fall asleep at least once a week."
Not good at all. Results in making wrong decisions and having cloudy thoughts.

Hopefully long nights of good sleep will be a significant factor in any upcoming election.

I think you’ve misunderstood what “woke” means in the context of the thread.

Trump is planning a Presidential dictatorship

And guess who did exactly the same in history?

Yes thats what I am saying. Unless you have evidence they are pathological liars or you are claiming you know them better than they know themselves and implicit is that you are automatically assuming the worst of people who do not share your views.

Any justification of this perspective reveals you to be a nasty and arrogant person.

Trumps policies are no different to any Conservative leader, its his bombastic rhetoric and biased media you are falling for.

Trump is a Constitutionalist. The Constitution only allows 2 terms, there are enough conservatives who would chuck him out if he tried to alter that, which he hasn't and hasn't insinuated that he would.

You are the epitome of clueless.
:lolol:

The article basically quotes Michael Beschloss non stop. The guy has a masters degree, studied at Harvard and has written seven well respected books on the US presidency.

Meanwhile, you're some clueless fkwit on the internet called "Crawley Dingo" :lolol:

As someone 'relatively' young, am I naive in thinking that elections once were based around which party you felt was best to vote for?

Now, any election seems to have been turned into some weird contest where it's completely black and white, good vs evil, "oh, you're RIGHT wing? Oh, you're a LEFTY?"

Is it not possible now to just, you know, pick the one you think has the best policies and not be signing yourself up to some sort of cult following for whatever people believe that 'side' stands for?
If you read any of the political debates on here, I think you will find that for a lot of people it is definitely good v evil.

In my lifetime I have voted for all of the major parties as, at the time, I agreed with their manifesto.

I'm referring to anyone who pushes their sexuality, personal politics or ideologies onto students while in the classroom.

They need to weed those weirdos out.

I doubt Trump knows much about the Constitution.

Generally true Constitutionalists are Libertarian leaning. That is in no way Trump.

Which part of the Armed Forces does Trump control or have the ability to manipulate to overthrow the US Government?

You do realise this is how that other fella went about it yes?
You do realise he's already had his supporters take part in an armed insurrection? And that the President is Commander In Chief?

Like I said to the other halfwit, you're not arguing with me, I just provided a link to where this is being said by an expert on US Presidential history with a Masters from Harvard. Rather than, say, a youtuber :lolol:
