Is Virgo good enough to convert to a striker full time ?

Very few defenders could have taken that goal like he did today.

Will he be there next season ?

I think he's actually a better striker than defender at this, his current stage of development as a player, as back in defence he can still be guilty of the odd error of inexperience. Up front he doesn't have to worry about that responsibility and I think plays much more confidently and freely.

What clinches it is I think it will just be tough for us to afford anyone who can do better than he does up front.

By contrast, we seem to be developing defenders as easy as growing weeds, El Abd must start playing more games and the two new pros from the youth set-up are both defenders I think?

of course he could. he is our top scorer and 8 goals aint a bad return in a team that has scored so few this season. if we had better creativity in midfield he would score more.

Knew he was going to score when he got the ball from Hart yesterday, just as you used to have 100% confidence in Leon to score in a similar situation.

I reckon a division lower he'd walk into most teams as a striker. Hasn't quite got the touch yet to be considered a fully-fledged Championship striker IMHO, but he's doing a damn good job all the same.

Yes, he's good enough, but personally I rate him as one of the best defenders in the Championship, and would like to see him play there. He's still a bit rough technically to play up-front, and tends to select the wrong ball, but that's a case of experience I guess, hopefully it'll come. I still see him as a defender.

Like Tainan, I knew he would put it away yesterday. But I'm looking forward to see it again, cos I didn't think he'd do it that calmly.

Unfortunately, I also knew he'd fail to get a touch straight after their second goal.
Although I doubt that was insight, just depression.

He has plenty of finishing ability and does offer us the route one option (not that I approve of route one), but today and each game he has played up front although his movement is improving vastly his first touch and ability to move the ball where it should go first time is very poor. Hence the reason he got booked. He should not have been anywhere near the right back more towards the centre backs and either creating a chance for christmas tree or having a shot on goal himself. By all means it will come with time, but at this stage of the season we need to make the most of any chances that may spawn. It may have been the fact that he ran his socks off again  and when you're knackered your touch does desert you slightly - as Gary Hart proved late on, although i'm not sure why?
