Already with them for the phone, and I've had a letter through offering to add their broadband service for £9 per month. I've been stroking my chins, and I've decided I MIGHT be interested. I rarely do anything important in life without consulting the anonymous hoard of oddballs who post on here though, so I ask you this:

Is Virgin Broadband any GOOD ?
Should I GET it ?

Thanking you muchly for your valued advice/opinion/abuse.

Be wary when you change ISP you are generally off-line for around a month or so.

Have been on 10meg for nearly two months, usually runs at a minimum of 7 and sometimes a fair bit faster than 10. Haven't lost connection once (though that may be down to having a cable modem now instead of using the TV box).

Can't complain too much about customer service either, can take 20 mins to get through but they do their best to make up for it. I rang last night to complain that I couldn't watch the Kentucky Derby, which was a Racing UK freeview on Sky, and they gave me a month's free sub to RUK (and the rest of Setanta pack) which is 15 quid's worth, and some money to compensate for the time I'd spent hanging on a free phone call.
Came on 10 mins before the Durrby, when Street Sense duly hosed up to make my night better still...

MIGHT GOOD I GET.

Changes are always difficult to accept, and poster adverts for new lives in painted towns make happy white families seem 308% more joyous than you, even sat in front of TVs, but i don't think that should stop change arriving.
Have a think about what you could lose. What channels people talk about at work or on here you might not have access to for a few days, or a dreaded, burning-down-the-house, week.

If i think about Virgin, i can;t stop picturing men with beards, flying balloons or planning to spin spasticated genii in space-travel. I trust Branson, when perhaps i shouldn't, but all bearded men are alright, i reckon. I wouldn't want to be seen with one, but i don't they are pervs like the side-parting brigade.

So, to sum up, have a think, Nelson, and then wink, smile and say "I think i might give this a go, Earth."

Think this may be the case - we've always had the specific modenm which works perfectly, where as those with the all in one box seem to have the problems...

We use it Easy and have never had any problems, our modem was fried by lightening last winter and they came and replaced it within 48 hours, all free of charge.

As mentioned above we've always had a stand alone modem and those who have had problems that I know have been connecting via their set top boxes.

Thanks peeps, I might give it a whirl then. They do a 30 day money back guarantee as well, so probably worth a sniff. £25 a month for AOL is a bit hefty isn't it.

I have mine through the TV set top box and very, very rare that there are any problems. Certainly much better than what i remember of AOL.

Customer service has also much improved. If youhave a Virgin phone then it's also a free call and I've not had to wait long, not like the old NTL days. it may be that they all seem to be Asian on the other end of the line but they've always resolved any problems.

Thumbs up to Virgin, if that's not too rude!:D
