It's the fourth, after Hereford, the FA Cup Final and the FA Cup Final replay.
For the purposes of the poll let’s merge the FA Cup final games as one!

I can't really see how it's possible to argue that it isn't. You could maybe claim the Wigan game was the game that enabled all this so that was bigger, but we we would have just gone up the next game if we hadn't have won that, so it doesn't really count. Hereford is probably the biggest, although (and I know this is an unpopular opinion) but had we gone down into non-league I think we would still be where we are now anyway. The FA Cup Finals were definitely bigger than this as there was a major trophy at stake (and one that was much more important then than it is now).

The mad thing is, that short of a complete drubbing tonight, next week's game is going to be even bigger.

Ohh tough.

Because I guess we're also sort of grouping in the games in the run up to the cup final and the miracle escape. Doncaster at home for example, I was much more tense about than tonight, and the consequences of defeat were much greater.

To me, this is a chance to make a statement about our club and who we are.

If we won tonight, given our injuries, given Roma's history, experience and form, I think there's an argument it's our best ever result.

I wasn't around for the Hereford or FA Cup final games so I voted for "I neither agree or disagree."

Hereford was the most important game in our history.
Tonight is probably the biggest game and stage that we have been on.
Hard to argue with that.

Getting to the Premier League was the biggest game in our history. Or at least in the top two games.
So Brighton v Wigan

Now I know that there were many games that season which contributed to promotion. But that was the one where it was finally achieved.

That game guaranteed us around £140m. And subsequently another £1bn or so.
So a few Cup runs whether Domestic or European have all been a consequence of that promotion, that game.

Surprised to see people claiming this is bigger than the FA Cup Final. Perhaps due to current perceptions of that competition. If you judge it by the standards of the time, it's like saying that reaching the last 16 of the UEFA Cup in 1983 would have been bigger than reaching the FA Cup Final. Not even close.

It's a very big match, but the Cup Final would have been watched by billions all over the world. A bigger stage, a bigger opponent in terms of worldwide reputation and a bigger prize.

Given how the results went after Wigan…are you sure?

i don’t remember if the points before Wigan would have been enough to give us auto if we’d lost it and lost the other games though.

There probably is an argument to say it is. But I would also say that the years are progressive and history is made at new points. On Sunday the game will be the biggest in our history as it's the only one that is active.

It's good for debate though. In a Pyhonesque way. Would you like a 5 minute argument or the full half hour ?

perhaps interesting to note, with the exception of the wigan game, we didn’t win any of the games mentioned in this thread
True, but Hereford felt like a win and the same result this evening would be great.
