By the way, all Tomek's fans are warmly invited to join the newly created Tomasz Kuszczak NSC Fan Club group...

I'm IN.

Btw, are you going to start one of these on the Southampton board, now they've signed Artur Boruc, or are you firmly one of US, now?

Southampton? Nah, couldn't be arsed. I always rated Tomek Kuszczak higher
than Artur Boruc and there is this certain je ne sais quoi about BHA that I find
very attractive. So, to answer your question, I AM one of you as much as it is
possible for a person living in Poland.

Seems to be considered in the top two by those who were around in the 1970s. Either Peter Grummitt or Tomacz Kuszczak.

The amount of confidence he has given to our back-four this season, and the saves he has pulled off so far. Have been extremely encouraging, to say he the best keeper we've ever had is bit of the mark surely? FDM, was and always will be the best Goalkeeper we've ever had.

Hahahahahahahaha. Good one.

So you've forgotten FDM already?! The guy was here for TEN years, some of the saves he pulled off were outstanding. If I was you, watch the video on the big screen more clearly and see that double save against Wolves, that was something else. The guy kept us in games, when we virtually hanging on. Kuszczak has been superb this season, but it is still early days!

He was good but he wasn't as good as Ben Roberts, so he doesn't come into the top two despite being an Albion legend.

With all due respect, please don't tell me who I have and haven't forgotten. I'm 41 - I've seen a lot of Brighton keepers, and a few of them were at least on a par with Michel. Some like John Keeley and Ben Roberts, were better. Michel was a very good lower league keeper - Kusczcak has a CHAMPIONS LEAGUE winner's medal.

On occasions Michel was truly excellent. He may very well remain YOUR FAVOURITE Albion keeper for ever. That doesn't make him the best.

He wasn't quite the same keeper after his shoulder injury, in my opinion. At his peak, he used to OWN his box, but in the latter part of his time, far from it.

He'll always remain an Albion legend, but I'll assess him objectively, thanks.

So your opinion on Kuszczak being the best Keeper we've ever had, is down to him having a Champions League medal? Remind me who was in goal the most games for Manure during that season? Wasn't it Van Der Sar?!

I'm extremely happy we have a Keeper like Kuszczak inbetween the Sticks, but I'm not going to call him the best ever. When we are only nearly two months into the Season, I think your statement and poll is pure crap to be truely honest.

No, my opinion on Kusczak is based on what I've SEEN, with my own EYES. The fact that MK played out his career in the lower leagues and TK has been contracted for years at one of the world's biggest clubs, and has a box full of international caps is just supporting evidence.

I haven't called him the best ever, as it goes. My original post is below, and I stand by it. Note the part 'early days and all that'.

Oh my.

Early days and all that, but he is fast becoming my favourite ever (this is my thirtieth season) Albion keeper.

Absolutely terrific again tonight. Sensational signing.

The poll, you think is 'pure crap' isn't mine either (nor the thread title, as it goes) - this is a merge of two threads.

Sounds like Kooshiczech was our real coup of the off-season.
I'm currently thinking Bruno, but Kuszczak is a good shout. Of course we needed a new keeper, but if not Tomasz, then it would have been someone else. Someone not as good, granted, but teams will get promoted with worse keepers than him.

I think the slight discord between Basil Fawlty and HKFC stems from the fact
of different understanding of the thread title by those two fine posters and NSC
veterans. BF would seem to think about the matter in question in terms of merit
(i.e. things that Tomasz Kuszczak has done for BHA so far) and he is right, there
are obviously goalkeepers who did more for the club, whilst HKFC is taking only
the pure goalkeeping skills and talent under consideration, and it is very likely that
there has never been a goalkeeper of Tomek's calibre in BHA, so he is also right.

The biggest mistake that Tomek made was signing for MU after his brilliant performances
for WBA, as it was known from the beginning that he was going to be the second keeper
there, no matter what. He never actually failed Ferguson at MU, he just wasn't his first
choice player (a fate shared by many great footballers throughout MU history). Had he joined
another club and played first team football, he would certainly be in a different position today.

Oh, well - that's football for you, and I'm glad Kuszczak has finally found an optimal club for
him to play to his full potential. He said in one of recent interviews that he is a better keeper
now than he was 5 years ago, and that he will be a better one still in 5 years time. He is not
a man to throw his words to the wind lightly, so you can be sure he has a lot in store for his
fans. He also said, in the very same interview, that he plans to play until he's 40 like van der
Saar did :)
