I am very excited about the coming season. I am unsure about these gillespie rumours. Personally, I would absolutely LOVE him to join the Albion - he has such flair and seems to perform well against all opponents. Many people have said in the past few months that he is definitely coming etc. I just cant see us spending that much on a striker when we have forster and murray. None of them will want to bench-warmers. However all three attacking with SG just behind - that would be a strikeforce and a half! How reliable are these rumours people?

has been the most exciting pre-season I can remember, looking for one more major signing (please be gillespie) and someone to fill the impending left-back position. Even if this doesn't happen, all the signs have been positive so far...

and how about selling out a few games at Withdean, or increasing season-ticket sales?

The most exciting pre-season in recent memory has to be 2000. We finished tenth in the previous season and the signings of the likes of Zamora, Brooker, Steele, Kuipers and Jones had us singing "We're going up as f***ing champions" before a ball was kicked at Southend... and we were right. Plus, we hadn't won a thing in years. As exciting as things may be, they're not on anywhere near the same scale... yet.

absolutely, we were in line to do well anyway, and then we heard Zamora had been signed up.

Cue 3,500 people travelling up to Southend in eager anticipation...whereby the team played mortifyingly, witheringly badly, and we all slunk off home feeling rather embarrassed

:lolol:

Lucky it all turned out nice in the end.
